Chicago hasn't had an impact on the psyche of those outside the US Midwest since the days of Micheal Jordan ended.
lol. Chicago is known for greasy pizza too, it's a fun city though. Most everyone there knows it's not on par with the east/west coast cities, I'm not sure why these threads constantly pop up. The ones from Chicago posting here are usually zealots who want to blast away every midwest stereotype when they aren't realizing their zealotry only brings attention to it.

Ironically, LostAngelesNightmare seems to live off baiting people into arguments with their immature and baseless arguments. It goes both ways
This is pointless if you are talking about CHICAGO. Chicago is diverse and receives immigrants from all around the world. Chicago's O'Hare Int'l Airport has nonstop flights to places all over the world. If you peak into Chicago's diversity, you would see that many ethnic groups and nationalities are well represented. In fact I could make a case that Chicago's population is MORE diverse than SF's.
*2nd largest African American population
*2nd largest Mexican population
*3rd largest Italian population
*Largest Polish population (outside Warsaw)
*2nd largest Greek population
The list goes on and on. Even the Asian populations are well represented. Chicago enjoys cultural prominence like those major cities (immigrant hubs) on the coasts. Your point is irrelevant when Chicago is the subject. I would agree with you if you talked about other midwestern cities, but definitely NOT Chicago.
You probably won't get any type of serious response to this.
San Francisco has contributed a ton to culture. You are straight tripping. Maybe you don't know but SF is the most bitten off region of the US.
No, it hasn't. Not really. Certainly nowhere near the cultural weight Chicago represents for the United States.

I think they're comparably diverse.
Chicago = 26% hispanic, 16% white, 37% black, 4% asian, 17% everything else including mixed-race.
San Francisco = 14% hispanic, 36% white, 8% black, 31% asian, 10% everything else including mixed-race.
Both stats are from 2000 and include only the city propers, not sure about the metropolitan areas.

You cant be serious. Broadway is the pinnacle of american theatre. Never known of chicago for theatre

I'm sure there is a bigger list but whatever, I'm tired.... the chest thumping of this subforum is getting old. I'm not saying Chicago is > than SF in cultural influence, though it just might be, but at the very least it is no slouch. Every day of your life is likely impacted by something from there.

yoyobubba-- good list. To add one notable omission-- Chicago (errr, Berwyn) invented the car popsicle. LOL at the inclusion of Tom Berenger.
But don't forget, San Francisco invented the Pacific Ocean. Tough to beat that one.
Any movie based in Chicago still came out of California. Not sure why that's hard to understand, yet for some it is. "The Breakfast Club" may have been based in Chicago, but the idea was still invented in California. The midwest simply can't compete.
