No...Salt N Peppa are from the same borough of the city I'm from, and I don't go bragging that they're awesome and pretty much the biggest girl rappers ever.

I find it amusing that people in this country don't know who James Taylor, The Cars, the Pixies or even Boston are.. You don't have to be from Boston to know them...Apperently you didn't grow up with the radio on or even play Guitar Hero. I feel sorry for you. (and i'm 22)

lets have a little tribute.

also the Talking Heads started in Providence. Does that count?
The J. Geils Band is from worcester
Rob Zombie is from Boston
Sonic Youth
Piebald
Dispatch
Guster
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Bane
Killswitch Engage

with a lot of schools in the boston area, you would think alot of bands would be formed in the first place right?

You're exactly right. I honestly think there's no excuse about not knowing these groups/singers. Just proves that a person is close-minded.

I really can't believe this poll is so close. Aside from some of the bands mentioned, Boston has always had a huge punk/hardcore scene.

Slapshot
The F.U.'s
Blood for Blood
Tennafly Vipers
Jerry's Kids
Darkbuster
D.Y.S
Gang Green
Negative FX
The Freeze
Big D and the Kids Table
Sam Black Church
Ducky Boys
The Unseen
The *****s
The Konks
Street Dogs
Flogging Molly

...and probably 127 others...

The Source mag was also started in Boston.

Don't listen to Classic Rock or the Rock station at all, and never played Guitar Hero.

I didn't vote. I don't think I know enough about either city's music scene to judge. Plus ZZ Top is one of my all-time favorites, so I'd be too biased!
