I have a friend who working for a record label back in LA and he says they are watching Dallas pretty close right now for that reason.
They should be watching Dallas. Hip-Hop REALLY needs something different right now, it seems like all the acts are a bunch skinny jean wearing, "swagger"-jackers. Hip-Hop is boring right now.
I heard of Lucci, he seems to stay TRUE to the Dallas scene, and not trying to hp on other scenes. The ones that make it out of Dallas love to hop on another scene from other cities and never really bring musical attention to Dallas it seems.
exactly man...they kind of just absorb themselves right into whatever mainstream music is playing at the time..which doesnt help the DFW music scene...and as far as the GS Boys or whatever...I heard that most of them were from like New York and California somewhere...but thats good that they arent representing DFW anymore...
Interesting talk man about the GS Boyz. Been some rumours they stole the dance and now they reppin ATL now instead of DFW. If that true thats messed up ***. They signed with Yung Joc and dumped the dude that gave them there big break. The video wasn't even shot in DFW but in ATL. IF this true ATL can have the GS Boyz they some traders.
Seems like the standard for rap keeps getting lowered. We listen to K104 and 97.9 sometimes at work and the stuff that keeps coming out from all over the south. Gone are the days of 2pac, NWA, and Biggie and now we have rap groups who make a decent beat and repeat themselves over and over. Seems like only the bad rappers are getting exposure. I would love to hear local artists like Tum Tum or Big Tuck on the radio, instead we get to listen to Mr. Hit Dat and songs like that instead.

Hip Hop is lacking creativity and real life situation. Everything is built around this ghetto & vulgar mentality. I need something thats gone provide motivation, lesson, and general things I deal with on a regular basis. 2 Pac might have been Gangsta rapper but I could relate to a lot of stuff he was spitting out. Man was a genius and I don't think it will ever be another rapper like him. Southern hip hop just doesn't do the justice.

I agree, Pac is my fave. Hip-Hop right now just keeps repeating itself OVER and OVER again. There always rapping about inanimate objects like jeans and jordans. That's SOOOOO boring!!!!

All is very true...until those things are re instilled in the music, the only hip hop Im really listening to is Cudi for now. Other than that Im doing a little Jazz, Alternative metal, some pop, some classic rock and, and a lot of instrumentals. And of course the Curtis Mayfield/Willie Hutch old soul type stuff.
...oh yeah, Im not liking country music anymore, it too is sucking right about now...the new young artists arent even really country anymore IMO...this is sad, because this was where Texas music really shined...its what gained Texas its national spotlight as a music mecca..
But I cant say I was the biggest 2pac fan, even when he was alive..he made some of the most hypocritical music Ive ever heard...imo..Im sure his intent was well, but his message was conflicting
