A city of 600k+ ppl like D.C is more fast paced than Chicago, one of the top financial centers of the world?
When did DC's Finest become a comedian?
Is this the same gentleman who claimed Georgetown University is more world famous then U.of Chicago? The last time I checked, G.U ranked #174 and UoChicago was somewhere in the top 10 according to World University rankings.
I love Chicago & D.C, but I think Chicago is more exciting and interesting than D.C. Indeed, I believe Chicago arguably has some of the coolest neighborhoods in the country.
When grown folks are talking. I said the U of C is not that well known outside of academia. Your ranking is an academic ranking. There is a thread in the Chicago forum basically says the same thing. I would also guess that more famous people attend Gtown than U of C. First, it's in an exclusive neighborhood. Secondly, the basketball program brings it world recognition. I stand by my comments, most people outside of the academic world don't know anything about the U of C. As for fast paced, Chicago is not more fast paced than Philly or Boston. Definitely not DC.

I've lived in 3 Asian countries....amongst the movers and shakers, EVERYONE has heard of University of Chicago, I'd say less than half have heard of Georgetown....a legend in their own mind....
Sigh, are we really rehashing the Georgetown-is-more-famous-than-your-university-but-not-because-of-global-impact-or-academic-prowess-but-because-of-basketball argument again?

No, I was just reminding some of you midwesterners that there is a thread in the Chicago section mentioning why U of C is not that popular or well-known outside of the MW. The thread even talks about Northwester and Depaul being more wel known. Hmmm. But that couldn't be possible because U of C is ranked so high.

Just stop. Georgetown is not as highly regarded as the U of C among people who matter, here and not as well known abroad. Great school. Just not in the same league at all.
Are we really arguing that Georgetown is globally famous because of a college basketball team, even though college basketball is almost unknown outside the U.S.?

I spent years tutoring the children of the nouveau riche abroad in various countries and what you're saying is ridiculous. Georgetown is relatively low on the totem pole and definitely nowhere near University of Chicago. DePaul is pretty much a non-factor. Northwestern gets a pass, but it's rare for people to find it more desirable than the University of Chicago except for very specific subjects. Your post here is just plain silly.
You've way overreached here, and writing that with such confidence makes me suspicious of your other posts. Have you ever lived outside of DC before?
No. The ones I posted earlier are the rankings in both academic and reputation worldwide. Sadly, Georgetown Univ. did not even make it in the top 100 . Based on so many ignorant comments you've made so far, I don't think you're qualified to discuss anything at all.
