I was just in Chicago for a few months earlier this year, mainly in Humboldt Park (I'm 1/2 PR).
There still seems to be a large presence of Latin Kings in that area but I know HP and that part of the NW side has improved a lot since the 80s and 90s.
I would say out of all the places I've been Chicago probably has the largest, most organized, and most complex gangs and gang culture. So many different gangs have thousands of members in the city and surrounding area. I can't speak that much on LA as I haven't been there much.

Yeah all up Spaulding and a little past north is like that. A little south and there's mainly Vice Lords, I think the other side of the park is still MLD.
I have some relatives who are Latin Kings out there so I don't have much of a problem but I've seen a lot of fights. There's a lot in Cleveland and Lorain as well, especially on the Westside of Cleveland between Lorain ave and Denison ave, and there's a lot in South Lorain and the westside of Lorain. I've been going out to Chicago since the early 90s.
The east side of humboldt has MLDs cand Cobras with the smaller gangs like Jivers, dragons, and Campbell boys on the eastern fringes of the yuppie borders.
I grew up on the northside with them familia stones, kings, Cobras, SGDs, IGs, Vice Lords, Royals, and popes.
is there a real objective to this thread? you want this information why? are you planning to protect the innocent from gang violence? are you planning to help law inforcement control gang activities? are you wanting to speak and convert gang members into a better way of life? if not, i dont see the purpose of asking these stupid questions unless you just think gangs are 'cool'. besides, we already have about ten other threads on this topic.

Yea most of the cobras used to post up over there by the family dollar passed california and north ave, but they've been going extinct, i ain't seen them post up. Probably maniacs have been doing away with them. What is crazy is that maniac are renegade, they don't like nobody they EBK, and they still around! Kings is always around because they're so big.Over there by Fullerton i've seen Imperial gangstas posted up and they're not in cameron city anymore and they still claiming that hood.Thats the hood near cameron elementry.

3.22.12 CVLs still posted up on lawndale n division,they still be out there trappin,maybe i shouldn't give out there hood becuase of snitches, but whatever they can hold there own.....too many of um.
