I feel much safer walking the streets of big cities in USA than in Europe. Lately i spent some time in Miami and NYC and they both seemed safe, atleast much safer than som European cities.
In Europe, you are not so likely to get shot, cause there is not as huge issue with guns, but you are extremely likely to get randomly beaten up and mugged by locals.
Thank you, finally someone who isn't wimpy. Some people say "I never feel safe in Miami no matter where I am." That is the most exaggerated line I've ever heard. Obviously your going to feel a little unsafe if you have to go through bad neighborhoods, even though I usually don't, especially if its during the day. To say you don't feel safe no matter where you go, you might as well never travel then...
I'm not saying Chicago is worse than anywhere else, I was just saying I thought crime actually went up, I guess not though. Trust me, I wouldn't exaggerate Chicago like that, I know what it feels like when people exaggerate Miami and New York like that. I've been to Chicago, many nice areas.
Just over 4. Basically everything except BK. NYC = ~305 sq. miles land-wise, Chicago = ~227 sq. miles, so NYC is about 78 sq. miles larger and Brooklyn is about 70 square miles total.
o wow chicago would make up just over 4 boroughs of nyc, cause when i look at the map it seems like it would only make 2 lol
Well they had a news reporter go out on the streets at night with the police and video tape things happening in the city and it was pretty crazy. Don't get me wrong, I don't like to feed into the media, but the way they've been keeping track of whats going on it's just hard to believe crime has gone down. Also, don't think I'm trying to bash Chi-Town, I love that place, I'm just giving my opinion on what I've seen and heard.
are you talking about that news reporter who was basically harassing the Chicago thugs acting all tuff in his car, and scared at the same time always threatening to call the cops on any threat the thugs made?
Chicago is like a New York but more dangerous, also in Chicago you will find a lot of abandon and low income single homes... in New York city there is virtually no single homes.
you clearly have not been to nyc and have clearly you must of been watching way to much videos of harlem and the south bronx , nyc has more single homes then buildings.
go to brooklyn , queens, staten island, and the anywhere in the bronx except the south/west sides. you will see plenty of single homes.
also the abandoned homes in the chi are not that serious i would say its either the same or maybe just a tad bit more then nyc.

Lol, no the guy was actually out there walking around trying to interview people but nobody wanted to talk to him.

If Chicago counted blocks the way they're counted in NYC, it would be roughly 400 blocks from north to south and 250 blocks from east to west. Here we start a new address block every other street rather than every street. On the south side we have 47th street and then 47th avenue, then 48th street and then 48th avenue, etc.
