Have had a house in St. James since 2006 and knew about the nuclear plant - not any more concerned than of other considerations - dams, rivers, earthquake faults (Charleston) - just a factor. We will move there permanently and my husband is a 20+ year employee of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. So we've talked about it and he has very good knowledge of the plant and is very comfortable moving there. But understand that it can be a factor for people.
There is a website with a list of all the nuclear sites in the USA and shows state by state where those plants exist. It also show when these plants went on line and the safety history of each location.
I don't see what the big deal is...I thought nuclear power plants were everywhere anyway?? I live in Fuquay Varina in wake co and I am like 15 miles from a nuclear power plant. If you are scared of them...you might want to move somewhere else...lol...where I don't know. If you live in New Jersey...New York or anywhere in the northeast...you are right near nuclear power plants. they are everywhere in the United states. We have to deal with it or live in another country.
I think shutting the plant down was a good thing. Better than letting it blow up!
