It seems Wayne Auto Salvage has finally gotten tired of being flooded out by the Neuse River and is wanting to relocate to North Carolina Street between A Street and Hooks River Road. NIMBY’s are up in arms about it...
NCDOT is holding 3 public meetings to discuss upgrading US-117/Future I-795 to interstate standards between Goldsboro and I-40. First meeting is Nov. 29 in Faison, second meeting is Dec. 3 in Goldsboro, and 3rd meeting is Dec. 4 in Mount Olive.
Fremont is having the Christmas Tree lighting tomorrow (Friday, Nov 30) and the Christmas parade on Saturday (Dec 1).
I'll be sure to miss both, although the "town Christmas tree" is like, 1/2 a block from my house. Unfortunately, I probably can't miss the racket from the Christmas parade.
In other news, I saw on my utility bill from the Town of Fremont today that they are no longer making payment arrangements...not that they really did to start with. It's nice that they started that now rather than the first of the year. They can't wait to turn peoples' power and water off 5 days before Christmas. (the 20th is their cut-off date) Merry Christmas from the Town of Fremont!

I was in Fremont last December and while I was driving through town checking out the lights and the tree, I noticed that the star that used to be lit up on top of the water tower is gone.

Sounds like something town board member W.T. Smith would support...I wouldn’t be surprised if this was his idea. The prick never passes up a chance to stick it to the lower income residents and he certainly never met a utility rate increase he didn’t like. I think Joyce Artis is the only one that really looks out for the residents in that regard.
On another note, since we’re talking about Fremont, I can’t help but wonder what the hell they were smoking when they f’ed up Peele Park.
Eastern NC is incredibly poverty-stricken. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out when you see all of the broke-down houses and trailers. Around here, all it takes is a 10-year-old SUV, a 50-year-old $80,000 house (or even a decent doublewide) and a couple of name-brand outfits to think you're better than everyone else. The bar for success is really low.
