Steve,

ATMC Fiber is available in the newer part of Moss Hammock (actually most if not all of SJP). For a non-fiber solution there is Spectrum (formerly Time-Warner Cable). AT&T Fiber is only available in the eastern part of SJP.

We are building in the newer section of Moss Hammock Wynd, about a block or so from the new Wellness Center.

Thanks for any info!

ATMC has fiber to serve every home in St. James and has served the Moss Hammock Wynd area since that phase started.

I received this from the clubs:

Hurricane Florence: The Clubs Closure Schedule
As we continue to monitor the progress through the alerts by the Town of St. James and NOAA regarding the path and severity of Hurricane Florence, we must make the following preparations for the safety of both our Members and our employees. With the forecasted path bringing the storm to our area, we must implement the following procedures beginning today:

Our staff has begun taking down items that with some wind will cause further damage to our buildings such as wind screens on the tennis courts, fan blades and porch furniture, etc.
We will maintain normal operating hours at all locations through tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11th.
The golf courses will be closed Wednesday, September 12th and all flags, rakes and other possible flying objects will be removed. Our staff will be working on drainage areas and swales to assist with water flow.
Our clubhouses will be open through dinner Tuesday, September 11th.
All facilities, including golf, tennis, pools and fitness centers will be closed Wednesday through Friday to allow our staff to prepare their homes and be with their family if they choose to evacuate.
Right now, it is projected The Clubs will be closed through Saturday, September 15th in entirety and resume normal operating hours in some facilities on Sunday, September 16th depending on any damages or other issues.
There will be an email update sent Wednesday morning with more detail as the storm track and severity can be assessed with more clarity.

After the storm passes and it is safe for our employees to return to work, we will assess the damages where necessary, and prioritize which locations can open first with the least damage. Our goal is to have one fitness center, one golf course and one clubhouse open as soon as possible, with others resuming normal operations as soon as possible after that. Reopening of the tennis courts will depend on how much rain we receive and how much erosion of the court material occurs.

We will keep you posted via email with the progress of our efforts. We hope you and your loved ones are also safe throughout the weekend.

More from St.James:

Hurricane Florence Initial Message to Residents

September 10 - 8:15pm

From the National Weather Service: Florence continues to strengthen rapidly and has become a major hurricane 145 MPH (Cat 4). The potential for life threatening impacts continues to increase, and it is possible Florence could make landfall as a major hurricane.

The Mayor will declare a State of Emergency effective September 11, at 9:00am. It is each resident’s personal responsibility to protect personal property and life safety. If you have not done so already, residents should prepare now. Secure anything in the yard that could become dangerous missiles in strong winds. Put together supplies (food, water, medications) to last for 3-5 days. Pack a go kit in preparation for evacuation. Further details on what you may need can be found in the residential Emergency Guide on the Town of St. James website, www.townofstjamesnc.org. Additional resources include ReadyNC.org, and the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org.

The Emergency Operations Center will be fully staffed and operational on Tuesday September 11, at noon. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will continue to update residents with the best information we have available.

At this time, Emergency Management is strongly urging residents to evacuate. This is a voluntary evacuation request. If you must go to a shelter, Brunswick County is strongly urging residents to evacuate outside of the County.

Hurricane Florence Message 2

September 11, 12 pm

Key points from the latest NWS briefing- Life threatening surge, wind, and rain impacts are becoming likely. Florence will have far reaching impacts, regardless of where the storm comes ashore. Based on the latest track the bulk of wind and surge impacts are expected to develop Thursday and persist into Friday. A slower track Friday into Sunday will enhance the flooding rain threat across a large area.

The Mayor has declared a State of Emergency effective September 11, at 9:00. It is each resident personal responsibility to protect personal property and life safety. If you have not already, residents should prepare now. Secure anything in the yard that could become dangerous missiles in strong winds. Put together supplies (food, water, medications) to last for 3-5 days. Pack a go kit in preparation for evacuation. Further details on what you may need, and how to prepare, can be found in the residential Emergency Guide on the Town of St. James website, www.townofstjamesnc.org under the Emergency Management tab. Additional resources include ReadyNC.org, and the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org.

The Emergency Operations Center is staffed and ready. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates to residents with the best information available. Residents can access the team by email at sjem@atmc.net, calling the Center at 910- 253-9980, or to hear the latest recorded message dial 910-253-0949.

Brunswick County has issued a mandatory evacuation order for all unincorporated areas. The Town of St. James has not yet issued a mandatory evacuation because we have been led to understand that such an order may result in the shutting off of County Utilities (Water and Sewer). Road condition resources can be found on the NC Highway Travel line at 5-1-1 or their website at www.tims.ncdot.gov/tims/.

The St. James Emergency Management team encourages all residents to evacuate to a location that offers greater safety. Residents that choose to remain are doing so at their own risk as it is unknown when essential services or personnel may be able to respond to any situation.

Hurricane Florence Message 3

September 11, 6:30 pm

Key points from the latest NWS briefing- This a MAJOR LIFE THREATENING STORM- Life threatening Storm Surge, potentially life threatening flooding, damaging hurricane strength winds.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued in advance of Florence’s impacts to land. Preparations for personal property, and life safety should be finalized.

Brunswick County has issued a mandatory evacuation order for all unincorporated areas. The Town of St. James has not yet issued a mandatory evacuation because we have been led to understand that such an order may result in the shutting off of County Utilities (Water and Sewer). The Emergency Management team takes their lead from the information provided by Brunswick County. Residents should do the same in making decisions for life safety.

The St. James Emergency Management team can not be more emphatic in their recommendation to all residents to evacuate to a location that offers greater safety. Residents that choose to remain are doing so at their own risk to life safety as it is unknown when essential services or personnel may be able to respond to any situation for the next several days.

Previous blasts have provided critical links for further resources. Please review them as necessary.

The next communication will be tomorrow morning.
