I took or tried to take my kids to BF to trick or treat...they called the cops and ran us off. Unless you have the big bucks...they don't want you around...unless you come in to clean their pool or house.

Default Leland

Leland has great developments in many different price ranges. Magnolia Greens and Waterford are very nice, very clean, communities with golf, nice club houses, and all sorts of fun activities.

Here are some fun things to do in and around Leland:

Plus, Leland has an almost perfect Walmart. You'll have fun and Wilmington is just a hop skip and a jump away.

living in Leland is fine as long as you live in a northern community. There is alot of hatred towards yankees and the jobs are a joke. You can have as much education, background, experience, etc. as you want and they will still pay you 8.00 an hour if your lucky. 10.00 is on the high side and you should be content with 10.00. My recommendation stay in NJ.

I've lived in downtown Wilmington (THE GOOD PART) for about a year now and have had no problems with crime. If you have common sense and stay below 5th street, you will not have a problem

Great links, thanks so much. Magnolia Greens is looking more and more like just the kind of community we're looking for!

We just moved to Wilmington from VA. We are a young family with kids 5 & 8 and love it so far. However, my husband's job is in Bolivia so this is quite a commute. Bolivia is so far removed from everything. We chose Wilmington for all it had to offer, but it seems like so many people are moving to Leland (even some OUT of Wilmington). What is the deal with schools? We live in the Ogden district which has a good reputation for schools (at least elem & middle) and seems like a safe area, but I keep hearing about Leland. Thank goodness we are renting for a little while to make sure we end up in the best place. Is Wrightsville beach the closest beach to Leland? I thought it was mostly retirees there, but I must have been misinformed. I guess if it the 29th largest growing city they will be forced to have good schools if they don't already. I would really appreciate any imput....

We moved from MA to Leland about 8 months ago, specifically Brunswick Forest, and we love it in this area. We haven't met a single person who was rude to us. Everyone is very gracious and helpful. We rented for a few months in Wilmington (Bellingham Park condos) while we waited for our home to be complete. It was still very friendly, albeit with much more traffic congestion. Speaking of traffic, NC drivers are insane! It's like being in Boston or NYC!!! Maybe it's all of us transplants

I am very surprised to read about the trick-or-treaters being run off by police. That seems very uncharacteristic of everyone I have met in BF so far. There are lots of young families through retirees in here, and everyone is friendly & pleasant. I'm looking forward to this community growing over the next 10-15 years. I bet it's going to look amazing.

Saw this in the morning paper.....does this apply to subdivisions like Brunswick Forest?
MyReporter.com Leland requires homeowners to buy a permit to park on the street in front of their own homes. Whose idea was this, how is it being enforced and what am I supposed to do if I host my family for the holidays?

I live in Brunswick Forest and I love it. Their is so much do around here. I agree the bridge can sometimes be a pain. My son goes to Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington. Great fit for him. Great school. Small class sizes.

Thumbs up Bridge traffic

I have lived in Leland since 2005 and worked in Wilmington. You have to learn to time your travel to and from work or appointments to avoid high volume traffic. If there is an accident on the bridge, police usually start routing traffic that is waiting to enter the bridge around to the Isabel Holmes bridge to ease the traffic jam. Those on the bridge just have to wait it out. You would face the same in most any city that has bridges or tunnels. I found that if I left for work early, I usually did not have a problem with the bridge traffic and if it was backed up, I could go around to the other bridge and get to work, maybe a few minutes late at times, but employers understand if you live on the other side of the river. It is something you will learn to do without really thinking about it.
