I lived there for 13 years/caucasian/female, for the record....and I have to warn those of you who come on here looking for info on Columbus that if you are low-income and thinking about moving there, well, think twice....while Columbus does have a fair amount to offer in terms of jobs and affordable housing, it also has a deep-seated contempt for those of moderate income and the poor.. and they have a considerable tendency to abuse the poor and run them out of their rights....time and time again I was a victim of this.....I don't know what it is about that area....but it runs DEEP....

Now a bunch of people are going to jump on here and personally attack me for saying this (which you're not allowed to do), but I periodically come on here and warn people about this....not out of a spirit of revenge...but to warn people.....because I sincerely don't want to see others go through the hell I went through the last six years I lived in that town as a divorcee of moderate income....it was bad, really, really bad....from the courts to the landlords to the police, etc. ..boy if they smell that you don't have money, the majority of the people in power will say something smart to you or try to take advantage of you in some way.....

I live in Indianapolis now and although it does have shades of Columbus in it, it doesn't have that mercenary streak that Columbus has....and there are more decent, compassionate people here.

Could you give specific examples to back up your claims?!?!?! Or are you just going to post and start arguments and run back to where you came from?!?!?!?!

Greytercel - welcome back!!! I have been worried sick about you and what became of you after the torment you suffered here in Cbus. Glad to see all is well with you and you still have plenty of friendly advice for folks looking to move to our wonderful city. Have a great day!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

If you're uneducated, everyone is going to take advantage of you in any city.

Any city will do what you described if you don't pay your bills. You think if you don't pay your rent the landlord will be nice and let you live there another month? He/she is counting on your rent to pay the mortgage also you know.
