Apple Store Set To Open | New Haven Independent

Very good for New Haven.

Also note that the Apple Store is joining Urban Outfitters and American Apparel on this block. Hopefully more trendy urban retailers will be attracted to Broadway and Downtown, and more national retailers like Apple to continue to increase the area's pull.

I used to live in Hamden. It always saddened me to see the wasted potential of New Haven. I hope this will bring more people downtown.

As a Mac aficionado and fan of downtown New Haven, I am doubly happy. Downtown New Haven is a walkable, dynamic area that shows of what the best of New Haven can be.

All Apple products are overpriced, overrated, ugly garbage. You will never see me step foot in an Apple store. Just what we need....an overrated store in a depressingly ghetto city.

I'll take your opinion, as an accountant, on the quality of computer hardware with a grain of salt.

Since the Apple Store is ALWAYS the most crowded store in the mall, and Apple's stock has been one of the best investments going... I'll think you to be in the minority... What else is new?

The minority? More than 50% of Americans use Windows based PC's. You know that.

Find a single brand of Windows PC that outsells Macs. (Hint: Mac outsells every major brand) Macs can run Windows too, btw. It is clearly superior hardware. See what people who have actual expertise in computing use.

Apple outsells all other brands of MP3 players combined. The iPad leads the tablet category by a 25 to 1 margin over its nearest competitor.

You can reasonably say "Apple is not for me-- They are too expensive." But to deride the quality of Apple products is just bias masquerading as informed opinion.

I guess that's why my 2004 Powerbook still works perfectly and is worth more than any PC of that vintage?

I'm not an Apple guy myself, but this is good news for New Haven. As for how popular Apple products are; let me say this. There's an Apple Store in the Stamford Mall (I think its on the Macy's wing), and I have never, ever, ever seen that store empty. It doesn't matter at what time of the day or whether its on a weekend or weekday, the Apple Store always has people shopping.

If that's worth anything, there you go...
