There were a lot of accidents this morning. This marks my worst commute into work, and Friday was my worst commute out of work in the last 1.5 years since moving.

We have a sitter who comes from Milford to our house in Stratford on 95 to watch my daughter while I work, and she said traffic was backed up past my exit (32). Yikes.

I head north on Merritt from 44, and there was an accident at about 7:25 or so on southbound merritt right below 44, and another between 48 and 49. I heard on the radio that there was a 3rd somewhere further down, but I wasn't really paying close attention. Traffic was basically at a standstill between 44 and 49, and heavy up to 52 where I head more north than east (as opposed to the Merritt's version of 'north' which seems like 2 degree's above due east).

It's been pretty bad heading south between 44 and 48/49 for the 4 or so weeks I've been driving... except for the Monday right after the storm last week - that was pretty quiet. I would go insane if I sat in that much traffic every day of my life.

Talked to someone today who takes Post Road from Greenwich to Norwalk every single day because she doesnt even wont to take a chance on the highways. Sometimes it takes her 45 minutes sometimes it takes her over an hour. I find that so sad when I hear stories like this. And Im sure people up north are laughing and shaking their heads.

I also work my schedule around the hours of traffic. So basically I have a window of 10-2 to travel freely and even still I hope and pray.

Huh?...that commute is a breeze 80% of the time....not sure why your friend is taking the Post Road. Perhaps your friend rides a scooter or moped?

Norwalk to Greenwich is a different story, but there is no reason to avoid the highway when commuting from Greenwich to Norwalk.

I was stuck in that this morning. It was awful. Took an hour and a half to go from Exit 48 to 44(where the accident was). Insane. Worst part was the accident was a minor fender bender too. Not that I want mayhem and deaths but I was expecting something big with the amount of time it took to get to it. I dont know protocol for cops but why cant they make an attempt to move a minor fender bender onto the shoulder? The accident was right where 44 merges on so with one lane closed, you had people getting over from the closed left lane into the middle and then people merging on to the middle......at the same time!!! Not for nothing, but all that construction to build shoulders and and they werent being used? The cars were not mangled and could have easily been moved. Just my opinion. Again, I dont want to see anyone get hurt but 48-44 South is a nightmare to begin with...........an accident just makes it so much worse. 2 lanes in the year 2011 sucks.....I know there are too many people on the road, but still, the highway companies needed to adapt and keep up with changing times and expanding population.........not live like it is the 30's......

Avoid the parkway between exit 60 and the tunnel both directions. Traffic isn't moving. Been stuck here for 45 minutes so far.
