Dropped to mid 30s in CT this morning. Actual lows are on the right.

Long range shows the upcoming "heat wave" cooling back off early next week, though not quite to the levels of the last few days.

So we had NYC in the 50s, Danbury in the 30s and....

Temp dropped to 28F at the Jones Family Farm so they turned on their sprinklers to protect the Strawberries!

There is no way shelton reached 28 degrees. the nearest below freezing temperatures on your map (among other sources) is almost 200 miles north in vermont/new hampshire. my guess is the temperature hit the upper 30s, perhaps 38 and Jones farm watered down out of a abundance of caution

I didnt believe it either but Please click link. A farm without a thermometer is like a farm without water. It's a must to keep track of heat and cold. 3 factors last night. 1. Radiational cooling. 2. Near ground. 3. In valley.

Falls Village station hit 32
Tomaston Dam station hit 34

So a local in the valley near the surface thermometer is very likely in the upper 20s.

This is the perfect example of why I wish there were stations in every town. CT weather has such wide ranges.

Also, it can be as much as 6-8 deg colder right on the ground (where farms often have their thermometers because that's the temperature that counts for them) than 6 feet up (where the NWS officially keeps their thermometers). That's why you get Frost Warnings even when the predicted low is near 40.

Thats what Im thinking. Since strawberries are close to the ground they probably wanted to know the temp on the ground. Pretty interesting it got that low. I wonder if there was ground moisture from the rains before. Would moisture make the ground cooler or warmer?

Anyway -- Rain Tuesday afternoon and night. 1/2" to 1" and maybe isolated heavier amounts

Hot days coming up! I still think its going to be Thursday, Friday, Saturday then we start dropping towards seasonable levels again as cold front comes through.

Quick Stat Fact.

Only 3 times since July 2012 has Bridgeport, CT been 11° or more above normal with the Max temp for 2 or more consecutive days.

Nights were a whole different story and there were many days with above normal temps BUT 2 or more consecutive days only 3 times in 11 months

I think actually warmer, I know in Florida they spray the crops with water when there's a frost warning to protect them........

May 28, 2013 and there's evidence of snow still in CT. Are we in a glacial period? LOL!!!

I've been following it and it started a a HUGE pile that was still around at the turn of May... Now finally its about to vanish. WOW!! 3 days to June and there's snow in CT. That area got hit with the blizzard.(in February)

That must have been some snow pile at the onset.
