Last night I was considering buying a small generator but not opening it until power goes out and if it doesnt then just return the generator upopened.

But Last nights models dont help me make the decision to buy one yet.

3 of the 6 Main models have a strong storm. 1 of those is the most reliable model. 3 have weak storms.

We all learned our lesson with Irene with regards to winds just being 30-45mph NOT 70-90 like models suggested.

So I'm not sure... Friday morning we'll have a better handle on this.

I'm giving my sister the heads up today that she "could" see up to 2 feet of snow next week near Buffalo.

From Henry. Someone save this post because some people think he hypes things up. He's leaning towards the GFS which kicks it OTS but acknowledges what the GFS trys to do. Which is form another coastal storm right behind it.

"Leaning toward the GFS now. That Sandy gets whipped out to sea and another storms forms off of NJ due to low NAO. GFS is finally catching onto the low NAO and the storm development. Whether it's Sandy or another storm the develops" https://twitter.com/Accu_Henry

Steve D mentions the lastest GFS which just came out:
"06Z GFS guidance continues GFS trend towards a phase of Sandy and powerful Polar trough. Interesting." https://twitter.com/nynjpaweather

Lets wait until Friday to even start to think about any preperations. I personally dont see this being a big event.

Lastest GFS actually lays a couple inches of snow down because a new coastal forms while cold air is in place. Something is bound to happen but I dont think it will be disasterous. We got time.

We'll know better on Friday

Me too. I read the weather posts on here more than the news websites.

My sister also lives near Buffalo, I'm sure she'll be thrilled....

Of course, they already had a big October snow back in 2006.

Oh dear NOAA weather is very accurate. It's for pilots.

Not a good.thing when u realize so many large broken tree limbs from last years's storm!
they cud fall off & easily hit u or crush/damage your home.
get your tree limbs cut this week if u can for safety's sake.
