I've seen House Hunters in Milford, the Essex area too. One episode had a Baby Boomer couple buying a million dollar new farmhouse in Eastern CT.
House Hunters is all faked but we enjoy the location shots.

Oh yeah, I remember that one. As I recall they bought a nice home. It's interesting how many CT locations have been featured on the show, considering what a small state we are.

The only thing fake about House Hunters is that when they film the show the couple has already bought the home. It is a requirement of the show that the people already be under contract for the house. They then take them to two other random houses and pretend they are interested in them. It is really just sort of a game to guess which house is the one they are really interested in. Because they must get an okay to film in the other houses, you usually see most of the homes are already empty which is sort of weird.

I also remember one HH episode where a couple was looking for a home in the "New Haven area". They showed them a charming old English style mansion, a contemporary and a modern colonial. At the end of the show the couple walking around their new town. It was Glastonbury. My son and I nearly fell off our chairs when they showed Fountain Green and Emmy Lou's. We backed up the and re-watched it and I figured out where the house they bought is located. Last year the couple was on Better Connecticut talking about their experience and then they were on HH - Where are They Now? Jay

EVERYTHING on HH is faked! As Jay said, you need to be in contract for a home before they even consider you. That and age, looks, income. They dont hire ugly people to be on HH!

Saw one in the Danbury area, these couple of guys looking on Candlewood lake homes.
Over the w/e just saw some show called Open House that I never heard of before. They showed some multi-million dollar homes in Hollywood, NYC, and Rowayton. The Rowayton was too funny, they kept referencing Rowayton and not the dreaded Norwalk word.
I am not sure if I mentioned it on this forum but the house in Fairfield they had last year on House Hunters Renovation was just sold. It was the one with the two guys from Stamford looking at a couple of different homes in town. They looked at a home on Park Avenue across from the Greek Church and an English colonial somewhere else in town. They bought a white cottage on Jackman Avenue in Stratfield and then gutted the kitchen. If I remember correctly they paid $500,000 and spent $50,000 on the renovation. The house sold for $550,000 so because of realtor and lawyer fees, they likely lost money. I wonder why they sold so quickly? Jay

Perfect choice of towns to showcase just how overrated and overpriced this state is.
