I-91 doesn’t cut off the airport property. There’s a major industrial zone surrounding the airport and multiple access points. Jay

I drove through Downtown Hartford two weeks ago and could see some construction for the development near Dunkin Park. I was several streets over so I didn't get a good look to see how much progress they've made. Can somebody post some recent progress pics of this development please?

Seaplane service is coming to Hartford according to WTNH it bringing service to Boston Waterfront same as Bridgeport to Midtown Manhattan service. Hartford to Boston will take 20-30 mins.

Hartford service start in 2022

Hartford to Boston
Hartford to Manhattan 35 mins commute time

In 2023-2025 Uber is starting flying taxis service probably would be cheaper than seaplane.

With downtown Hartford approaching ‘critical mass’ of residents, will more retail, restaurants, nightlife follow?

That'd be nice. Even a fraction of the activity in downtown New Haven would make a big difference. I'm sorry, but when talking to friends, downtown Hartford is just not a destination. West Hartford is definitely a factor of cannibalization.

I meant that it cuts it off in terms of being almost separate from the street grid on the other side--though to be fair, the areas just to the west of I-91 there is also fairly industrial and there's a whole lot more egregious examples of it in and around downtown that would be more sensible to tackle first.

Do you know what the most ambitious plans for I-84 and I-91 in and around downtown are? Do any of them have any chance of succeeding?

This article is several weeks old, but I don't remember seeing anyone post it. An enormous eyesore in Hartford may be getting cleaned up/redeveloped in the near future.

That section of Hartford has been cut off from the rest of the city long before I-91 or Route 5/15 were constructed. There is a rail line immediately west of I-91 that’s been there for about 150 years. Airport Road is the only road that crosses under the tracks. To the north, near the Colt Building the tracks cross Reserve Road with an at-grade signalized crossing. This makes the area pretty isolated from the rest of the city. Jay
