How about a Northeast map?

On left is what we have received (to the 29th). (everything reported gets put onto the map)
On the right is the departure. Bridgeport is 8-12" below normal. Hartford is 16-20" below normal!

Normally Hartford has like 45 inches of liquid by now, they only have 30"!

Here's a map that shows all NWS Climo sites...

Total Precip since January 1st to yesterday Nov 30th

If I'm reading the 3-day history thing correctly at noaa.gov, 1.56 inches of rain fell at Brainard Airport in Hartford.

Also, I check the UNL Drought Monitor every Thursday morning. However, the maps shown won't reflect what fell in the state these last 2 days, since the data cut-off time is 8 AM Eastern on Tuesday.

Cam: Are you seeing a very large cold air intrusion into the lower 48 states for the end of next week? [Snow too?]

The period from Dec 11-14 should be stormy..below normal according to weather channel. Accuweather long range doesn't have it yet.

Judging by what happened to Nat Gas and Oil today, maybe they know something too?

Coming up... Seasonable & dry this weekend, enjoy.

Monday.. Possible little snow showers here and there. Maybe a coating in spots?

Thursday.. Rain..to maybe snow if things work out. Sharp front coming through..

After that front the gates open. Looks like a cold weekend next weekend maybe.

I think that's more due to OPEC agreeing to cut output.

yeah, I think so too. But funny how Nat Gas spiked up as well. I'm sure there was "some" anticipation of demand coming since there is an Arctic blast in the works for the U.S

4% is a big move for a day.

I know for a long time there was some question regarding how strong la nina would be this year, and then if it would make an appearance at all. Now that were through November and into early December, we've got a clearer picture. It does look like it's developing after all. In conjunction with a significant amount of snow pack in Siberia, jet stream trends, and my grandfathers bones, at worst NE is in for an average winter (good for snow lovers like me!).

La Nina Article:
Expect colder than average temperatures from La Nina conditions | WWLP.com

Really cool site that documents snowpack:
