Forget about any new nursing programs being created. Goodwin College in East Hartford has that cornered now. There's also very few nursing jobs available UNLESS you have a BSN. I would not even consider nursing as a career now.

FWIW, there was a nursing program in Middletown maybe 10 years ago that was run in conjunction with Middlesex hospital & Middlesex community college I think. A couple of friends of mine went thru that program.

This is pretty typical of what happens in fields that are experiencing a lot of new entrants. Raise the bar for education and/or experience thereby excluding more people and reducing the salaries.

CT and most of New England is doing 2 thing's. One is Board of Nursing wants nurses to have degrees by 2020. Add in the size of our state and cost of CC many are flocking to CC for their Associates. That adds in to long waiting list, gone down to two years now. Also cost of getting your Bachelors in the state with limited aid/private loans doesn't add up to what you make as a nurse. Going to CC I'll pay virtually nothing.

Goodwin is great. However, they are an hour away for anyone not in the Hartford area and have to deal with traffic in the area to get to the school. School is very expensive. There plus is they offer good deal of financial aid, have a unique selection process, and now are becoming less rigid with prerequisites taking outside of the school..in addition, they partner with a private LPN school in the area. Granted another tangent not sure who psy $30K for LPN school. Thankfully CT did not cut the State LPN programs and they are back up.

All of this is for another topic be great if CT could step in and encourage hospitals to hire BSNs. I am hoping ADN route. Hoping to get into the only 2 evening CC programs in the state Northwestern or Gateway.

True, I like the Crystal Mall.

I know NH has some anchor retail stores. Would say a B&N be good in New London. Maybe a Urban Outfitters, a Cabela's, a Dick's.

Forgot there is a few places in the area for the Arts. There is a place in Waterford, have the Casino's near by, and the Opera House. However, a Comedy Club be a good thing in New London. Also some local shops. Think New London be a great area for Metaphysical stores.

Not sure how the bars scene is in New London either have to do more research check it out when down there again.

As far as places to stay Mystic and Norwich not to far away have great place to stay. However, a hotel near the train station would be a good thing.

Actually looked it up does have a good bar scene. Mystic has some good spots to check out as well. There is a hotel not to far from the train station. I will say ECSU should one day relocate or expand its courses at its Satellite location in Groton. Also a CC in Groton be a great idea.

Each of CT's cities is too small to be interesting, and has too much crime and poverty to be attractive to anyone with the money to live in the smaller towns with better schools surrounding them. (Except for maybe parts of Norwalk and Stamford, and Yale Students)

We just recently moved into Wilton and I know that small town Connecticut seems pretty great, the little pub here seems OK, as did a few of the bars we checked out in SoNo.
