The only city i could have seen myself living in was Stamford. I was there for 3 years and while it was enjoyable, it became way too expensive for what its worth.

I'm also a late 20s Male. If I was in my 40s, i dont think I'd care where I lived as long as I was employed.

Uhhh... this is true of any city. There are good and bad areas in all. Jay

better crumbling and abandoned than full of ghetto rats.

You should have witnessed some of the hellhole neighborhoods in New Orleans! CT's inner cities are still manageable.

Yeah but it's a small small small area. Leas than a mile. I mean Providence is walkable in some area's and it's developed area's are spread out.

You really only have in Hartford by the Convention center, in New Haven Yale, Norwalk SoNo, and Bridgeport Steele Point.

What? You obviously do not know any of Connecticut's cities. What about the rest of downtown, West End, South End, Parkville or Behind the Rocks in Hartford. Or East Rock, Westville, the Annex, City Point Wooster Square or Lighthouse Point in New Haven. In Bridgeport there is the wonderful Black Rock neighborhood or the North End, Brooklawn, Beardsley Park, Lake Forest or Treeland. And you can't be more wrong about Norwalk which has the charming seaside village of Rowayton, as well as East Norwalk, Cranbury and many other neighborhoods that are truly very nice.

As for Providence, you really don't know it well. While there are some very nice areas, there are also a lot of rundown dumpy ones too. As many if not more then Connecticut cities. Before you are so critical of our cities you actually should get to know them and the city you are comparing them to. Jay

Really not true. And Steele Point!? That's basically 4 stores. Black Rock is a far more appropriate example.

One big advantage of small cities is they really limit the potential of ghettos to form. As bad as areas of Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven are they pale in comparison to the mess located within the borders of many Americans cities.
New Orleans is a bad example. They havent recovered from the hurricane and alot of houses rent abandoned and run down because still no help from fema. Now if you compare it with a city almost the same size like Charlotte nc ct cities dont compare. Or most cities around the size of ct cities. But in ct you just have to drive. Casinos, nyc, boston and real beaches are a drive and some people dont mind traveling

Sorry but what does Charlotte have that Connecticut cities do not? I believe you have to drive a great distance to get to "real beaches" there too. Connecticut's coastal cities like Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, New Haven and New London all have their own beaches. Whether you like them or not is a personal preference but they are right there. Also in the time it takes to get to a "real beach" ( which I assume means a beach on the ocean) in North Carolina, you can easily get to beaches in Rhode Island or on Cape Cod.

Also we may not have a professional sports team in our state but we are pretty darn close to some of the best teams in the country. Much of Connecticut is within a couple hour drive of them and you have MULTIPLE choices that you do not get in Charlotte. I have told this story before but I have a friend who lives in a major city and he tells me it takes him 2 hours to get to games. Huh? He lives in a major city that has major sports franchises and it still takes 2 hours for him to get to a game? That is no different then living in Hartford and attending games in Boston really.

My point is that unless you are in a really major city living right near these things, you still have to drive. Not much difference except that you have to cross some imaginary lines. Jay
