KPMG's Global Headquarters is in Amsterdam, actually.

Do you work in one of the investment banks in 345 Park? That must be hell of a commute and work hours combined in a work week.

KPMG LLP is based in NYC. As for the work week, the commute isn't bad since I'm not traveling during the peak hours. I work very long hours, but they do have a cafeteria (but parking is out of pocket) so Nep would possibly contemplate.

Congratulations on your new job, Nep! Hope your transition to Middletown is fairly smooth and your new job gives you what you need out of it!

Great advice. Since he is tax at this corp, it will be up to him to hit every deadline, or fines and penalties await. There can be no excuses on that-no corp would accept one. But it also means if you do meet every deadline, and keep the corp in full compliance while finding tax saving opportunities, that will no doubt result in a very favorable situation for you long-term.

I want to be shocked, I really really do.

Anyway, welcome back Nep.

Earn one. Most corps I worked for gave out a healthy % of purely discretionary bonuses. While I have had a structured bonus for over a decade now, in earlier positions, I always received discretionary bonuses.

I assume they did not state bonuses were not possible. So do a fabulous job, and I'll bet then you get subjective bonuses.

I'll just do my best and see how it goes. That's all. But I'm not going to kill myself working 50+ hour weeks as Jay suggested. Even the employer said they don't want their culture to be like that.

Just see what is required. In small companies, with one person departments, the spotlight is on them. Use that to make yourself shine, and this could be a huge break for you. Unlike when part of a large department, for better or worse, your individual contribution will stand out.

Good luck.
