Always so tough to get to CT. Need a big push aloft and need some extra instability. With those 2 its possible! Otherwise they typically dry out by time they get here.

But yeah, we'll have to start mentioning snow squalls if conditions are ripe.

Let me see if Upton is saying anything

Nope. Nothing yet other than "moisture starved atmosphere". But they do mention a vigorous short wave moving through. Hmmm

Quote:
This period will begin with a jet core of 130-140 kts over the
region on Wednesday. A cold front will move through Wednesday
afternoon and immediately behind the front, especially closer to the
coast with steep lapse rates 35 to 40 knot winds have a good chance
of making their way down to the surface for late Wednesday afternoon
and evening. Later shifts will have to evaluate as we get closer
for any wind advisory potential. Atmosphere will be moisture starved
with rigorous shortwave moving across the region later in the day
and acting as a digger of the long wave trough in the northeast.
This will bring the coolest air of the season thus far behind the
cold front. Thursday morning will be quite chilly with some 10
degree temperature departures below normal, and that will be with a
northwest wind.

I believe that was the passing of the cold front. Note the S/SW winds then after 10pm they started shifting from the West and NW and picked up speed. Also the temps tanking.

IEM :: Site Meteorograms

6am temps. 44° here.

Record cold in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Texas this morning and All that cold air is moving East. We will feel it Thursday!

Feels like we're starting this already with the impressive cold shots. Meanwhile record warm in Florida.
I'll take the middle (normal) for a month please!

Its true. When the jet stream dives south of us it introduces a pattern that supports development of a big storm. Whether its off the coast or on land remains to be known but the risk is there.

An upper level trough moves over the region Wednesday night. At
the surface, a cold front moves further offshore Wednesday
night strong cold air advection in its wake, as winds increase

rain or even snow showers will be possible across the far
western sections of Orange County.
No accumulation is expected
from any snow showers, if they occur.

Just crazy. Looking at the forecast.

We go from 70s and 80s wearing shorts and short sleeves to 30s, 40s, and 50s wearing jeans and sweatshirt.

What happened to jeans and TShirt weather? Lolol. Which is 60s and sun.

Today is nice! Might have to start fire though
