Do historians create lists of "top 5" and "bottom 5" Connecticut governors? If so, I'm a big Ella Grasso fan.

Nice pretense to open yet another Malloy bashing thread, though...

I don't care for him, but he's not as bad as most in his party. He has an arrogant streak that has led him to involve himself in other people's business, even as he has failed to put his own house in order. His big mistake was not going harder against his own allies in the legislature who are hell bent on keeping the state on the path to ruin because it benefits their narrow constituency in the short run. We could certainly have had a much better governor than Malloy, but most in his own party would have been even worse.

Oh boy, me thinks I will probably get in trouble once again defending CT's progressive system and one of my fellow alumni (Malloy) from Westhill HS lol.

BTW, Malloy got the "Profiles in Courage" award from the Kennedy family in 2016. Many many years from now that will probably be his footnote in CT history.

Can't think of anyone worse than him in my lifetime tbh. Not a huge fan of Weicker, but he didn't really have a choice implementing the income tax. He's not to blame for the states spending issue which has been continuous since then, and kicking the can down the road only leads to more suffering in the future. John Rowland was a pretty good governor, prior to his charges that led him in jail. Looking in the lens of Rowland as a voter prior to 2001-2002, he did a fair job. Jodi Rell didn't have a huge interest in the position IMO within the last year or two of her governance, and she left the state right after office. Grasso was decent, but was known to be extremely fiscally conservative, which as a Democrat is out of the norm today. I remember O'Neill benefited from the 80's boom and his approval rating sank hard during the early 90's recession. I don't remember Meskill very much, other than something that he did led him to not run for reelection because of criticism from voters. Dempsey was governor when I was too young to remember anything about politics...

Malloy is your typical sellout. Before Obama came out with his $10.10 minimum wage idea, Malloy rightly rejected a much more modest increase to min. wage.
Malloy claimed rightly that the CT economy wasn't strong enough to support it.
After observing Obama support for giving people whatever they want for votes, Malloy jumps on the bandwagon. The CT economy be damned.

What did he do? Drown some pregnant chick in the trunk of his car after drinking a bottle of Chivas?

Historians don't care about Connecticut governors.

Forget the top 5 and bottom 5. I'll bet most people can't name ten Connecticut governors, period. I can only name the six from my lifetime plus one more.
