Nice reports! Thanks

Sorry I cut off the map, I was doing a closeup of how the storm split up in Westchester missed this area but watch that split storm merge with another and head towards Hartford

The storm came through quickly, dumped some rain and had some rumbles but nothing significant. Jay

Listen up Stamford... you're next if you don't stop putting up buildings and taking down trees!!!

10:30pm and still upper 80s/90s in and around NYC while the suburbs has cooled into the 70s and low 80s

Looks like a little heat island spreading (sprawling) outside the "island".

That 87 is New Rochelle, my family still lives there and I know for a fact more buildings have gone up in past 10 yrs than ever before. it's a sad transformation there. They dubbed it New Roc City.

Almost Midnight and the heat is trapped in the island. Up per 80s. 90° at LaGuardia still

That 90° near Hartford is an error. I am so happy to be in CT!

hmmmm. Does anyone else remember when three days over 90F were considered a heat wave?

Seems like it's been awfully hot for awfully long so I did a casual check and July 19=90F, July 20=97F, July 21=93F, July 22=91F and the next three days are supposed to be 90+ too. This is for Hartford Cty. Seven days is unheard of or is this the new normal?

4th day in a row of 90°+ here and I'm done. No idea how the south does it. And people keep moving down there? Nuts. Im in good shape and I cannot tolerate 90+

Dews are in the 50s too and it aint doing crap to make it more tolerable. lol

Not unheard of. While not common, not rare as in once or twice in a lifetime either, nor unprecdented like the 104 in London last week or the temps in Seattle and Portland during their heat wave last summer.

The BOX (Boston office) website of NWS (which would have the Hartford data) seems to have a very simple climate section so I can't find anything on it, but its average high temps in the summer are similar to Central Park, NYC (in fact, much like Newark they're often higher than NYC in recent years for some reason), so this subsite from NWS-OKX (NYC office) of streaks of 7 days or more in Central Park may be a good barometer (yes, pun intended) for your question on Hartford. The current streak (almost certain to be 7 or more in both places) will get added to it.

Looks like for NYC 21 such streaks in 153 years of record, or an average of about once every 7-8 years, in fact last streak this long was 9 years ago, in 2013. Not a heavy bias towards say 21st vs 20th century either as you'll see so not really "unprecedented" either (in fact one of the "longer" streaks was in 1896 and another in 1901):
