Holy crap. Reading that sounds like everyone drank more than a few too many Red Bulls

All I remember from that stretch was creating new shoveling solutions. Because the driveway edges had become piled with 5-6 ft of complete ice, it was becoming impossible to get snow out... so we tunneled gaps and ramps as well as "compaction zones" to cram as much snow into a small section as possible. Those were fun times. Unfortunately, that time has never been repeated... so far.

NAVGEM has a bomb. 18z run, so grains of salt.

Say it with me now: January 4th, 2018. This storm is developing pretty similar, albeit with less cold air to work with.

Early 2011 was the worst! I could always be lazy with shoveling since it would melt somehow in a week. Except we had that deep freeze and I spent the next 6 weeks bouncing off snowbanks as I backed up the driveway. Brutal!! I hope we never get that again, even though I am more careful about not assuming things will melt quickly anymore.

Here come the 0z runs. ICON first up to the plate!

Edit - swing and a miss. Strike one. Low does not phase at all, no precip brought back onto land. Dud

Why is the NWS listing current conditions in Hartford as "smoke"? That's weird.

Never mind, now I know why! There was a large fire this morning right near Brainard Airport at an auto transport place.
