My weather geek son told me from college that he saw on the GFS major snow (6" NYC, 11" in Danbury) predicted for Nov 7. What do you think of this one Cambium? Is it only that model showing it, he also showed me a rain/snow line image that seemed pretty close (all of LI and the southern half of the boros showed rain) as in I would think that would mean a mix until you get north of I-84. I tried to copy and paste all this from his text but it didnt work.

6" in NYC would be unprecedented and I'm not buying it (though the record for earliest 6+" snow there was just last year on Nov 15) but I know when the historic 2.9" fell in Central Park on Oct 29, 2011 (my birthday!) Danbury got 17" out of it if I remember it right.

Nov. 7th on "that" run was 300 hours out. By the next run (12z) it already shifted massively. We call this "fantasyland."

Though to counter myself, I must not fully exclude the possibility of such an event happening. Only a brief thought back to last November brings back the possibilities of impactful November snowstorms.

** Just a reminder.... Odds are against a snowy winter when it snows too early...

Here are the dates it snowed 1"+ before Nov 16th for BDR & NYC and what the season ended up with.

Only 2 out of 7 ended up above normal for BDR. 1 ended up above normal out of 7 for NYC.

And just for kicks.....After last years November snowstorm it barely snowed through the winter with less than a foot heading into March. It was March that brought the snow for the season.

Spoiler

1.16" in Hartford to their reading before 3 PM. No flood watches up anywhere I can tell. I guess that means we still need this rain. At least it's not s--- like with Colorado today!

Ridiculous 3.03" of rain which brings the monthly total to 8.66"!

7 of the last 13 months with over 6".
Only 1 of last 22 months with under 2"
