Days like this can give the occasional awesome picture though. Such as this view of the Empire State Building from 7 World Trace Center. Photo credit to Lloyd Lowy of the "NYC 1950 to Present" Facebook group:

Bottom line...GFS is garbage. It kept pushing the cold west eventually putting us on the warm side while Euro been showing it for a week... It also decided to agree with the Euro regarding the Halloween snowstorm in midwest which the Euro been showing for a week.

Yeah, I remember thinking the GFS would win a week ago, but after this I've been convinced that it's only worth looking at the Euro. I can't even remember when the GFS outperformed it.

October 2010, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and now 2019 ending above normal. I just dont get it with Fall and Octobers. I dont get it with Below normal Marchs either. So odd. #NoFall

1.33 inches in Hartford. Why was the precipitation enhanced for the coast line?

I cannot believe it was 8yrs ago yesterday I started this thread! I didn't know if it would be snow so I put rain in the title as well. I also didn't know it would of been historic and chaotic.

Don't think I'll ever forget that storm. By far the most damaging of the three storms of 2011-12 for me.
