I just need a little sun. January is typically sunnier than November and December. Not sure about that this year.

Seems like milder winter weather brings more clouds with it. I worry climate change is going to turn our winters into Seattle winters.

Snow? Did I just move here from Florida? We got our one storm, I'm good until next year!

Loop past couple hours. HUGE Upper Low over Ohio. Lots of rain for us meanwhile snowing again in some Georgia & Tennessee mountains and snow squalls in Kentucky. Heavy snow rates in upstate NY and into Vermont.

I think you are right about the clouds. One thing I've noticed about temperature trends the last 30 years is that a LOT of the increase is in nighttime lows. In fact in many places (including NYC) average high temperatures have either stayed flat, barely gone up or even gone down (but neither in what would be called a statistically significant way.....or in layman's terms change was so low to likely to be chance).

I think climate change is real and scientifically sound but mostly affects nighttime lows and perhaps produces more clouds as a natural reaction to increased temperatures, though SOME of the increase in nighttime lows (but not all of it) is larger urban heat islands, especially in places like Phoenix or Las Vegas and to a lesser extent (partially because their climates have less diurnal variation to begin with) California and Florida areas that have had enormous increases in average nighttime lows since 1990 and certainly since 1960 probably in their cases more due to enormous urban/suburban growth and sprawl than simply climate change alone.

NYC hasn't really grown like that in modern times but there are a lot more taller buildings than even 20 years ago and in the low population growth Northeast they are one of the places that have had the largest increase in nighttime low temperatures

Miami was supposed to be underwater by now (sources upon request). One of the silver linings of Covid is how much we’ve reduced our carbon footprint (probably a decade of progress). We shall see
