Vaccinated people who get covid have less problems, less time contagious, less spread, etc. if everyone was vaccinated, at a minimum almost no one would die and less people would likely get covid (since the spread is less and the time period is less)

This isn’t hard to understand
Because not everything is a convenient slogan for a bumper sticker, which is what “pandemic of the unvaccinated” is. It overplays the vaccines as a miracle drug which they aren’t. My family is living proof of that and many of my vaccinated friends and colleagues experienced the same thing. We all would’ve been highly contagious in public too. Perhaps the vaccines would’ve been more effective, but Delta rewrote the rules.

Pandemic is still a pandemic as long as this is spreading like it still is. If the vaccines limited spread so much, you wouldn’t see such numbers as we had this summer and are starting to see again. And highly vaccinated countries like Germany and Israel should’ve achieved herd immunity, but their cases continue to be a problem.

For some reason, people don’t want to admit the vaccines are far from perfect because it goes against the narrative of their “team”.

But then the overpromises give way to “gotcha’s” on the other “team” as they see the vaccines aren’t curbing spread much, and dig their heels in more.

Can we just be honest? We are still in a pandemic that can and will affect unvaccinated AND vaccinated, the vaccines are marginally effective in curbing spread, but highly effective at preventing severe outcomes. Phrases like “pandemic of the unvaccinated” are silly simplified cartoon tribal politics nonsense and people see through it.

Exactly, on all counts.

So far new variant seems “weaker” but we won’t know for weeks because we’ll need to see positive cases and if they result in troublesome severe illness / deaths but it is in CT now:

This is one of the most truthful and accurate posts I’ve seen here in awhile.

I'd call it a pandemic of the unhealthy. Too many still make bad lifestyle choices

It’s a shame but many people will use “the truth” as a reason to stay unvaccinated or to not follow the recommended protocols.

And the truth should also include that much of this is just not known by the medical experts simply because this is a new rapidly moving virus and we do not have the luxury of time testing to fully determine the vaccines effectiveness and affects beyond that they keep people out of the hospital. That alone makes the vaccines an extremely important part of this that shouldn't be dismissed or diminished. Jay

In CT, five times as many people are testing positive who are unvaccinated. That's according to The Courant. I'd define that as more than "marginally better".

The perfect is the enemy of the good. Just because vaccines aren't perfect, many want to dismiss them entirely. That's like releasing a .300 hitter in baseball for a .200 hitter because, you know, they both make outs.

But you're making a straw man argument. NO ONE has said they are perfect. Just that they are good.

Moderna regular doses, Pfizer booster … only impact was around 24 hours after the shot got very tired and ended up going to bed 2 hours earlier than I normally would. I also got the flu shot at the same time in the same arm so my arm was sore for 2 days
