I believe they lease Teslas from the Milford location. They just can’t sell from it. People must go to one of the surrounding states to buy which to me this is kind of stupid. Think of all the tax dollars being lost by this set up. Jay

A few moments ago I went to the Tesla website and it appears you can custom order one through there. No need to physically be at a Tesla dealership.

I wonder how that works regarding state sales and other related taxes. Usually, if there isn't a store in the state where the buyer lives there is no sales tax. However, are galleries treated as stores for tax purposes despite they can't sell anything?

Like Carvana, you just order the car and they deliver to you door. I got my new Tundra that way, touchless delivery, the guy just threw me the keys.
It makes sense for a trendy innovative Co. like Tesla to do that now. Dealerships are slated for extinction down the road, not tomorrow, but at some point in the future.

Friend of mine got a Tesla and had the Electrician come to install the plug for it. My friend got shocked when he had to upgrade his whole electrical system to get the plug for it. He had an old 100 amp panel which wouldn't support a 50A Tesla plug. Ended up costing him $5500 to upgrade just to "plug in a car". Ouch. Even at our inflated gas prices he wont break even for years.

I have my eyes on the Tundra to replace my Ranger. How do you like it?

When you go to register the car, you will be asked to pay the sales tax or prove it was paid in another state.

Luckily, most home today are built with or have been upgraded to 200A panels. I'm guessing he doesn't big electrical appliances like an electric stove or AC. Now he can.

All Toyota trucks are great. I wouldn't hesitate.
I recently sold my old Landcruiser beater for an obscene amount of money. Sold the next day after posting with tons of inquiries. Double what the KBB value was for it just two years ago. Even with it needing a timing belt and head gasket soon.
Cars are like homes right now. Now is the time to sell if you don't need it.

That's right, you pay CT sales tax at registration if from out of state or from a private seller. You think CT's going to let you get away without paying sales tax on anything, think again.
