What???? Groton is not a depressing dump. There are a few rundown areas, but also a lot of really nice areas as well. It’s not much different quality wise from Stratford.

And Middlebury is not really upscale. It’s working class; maybe slightly middle class. It’s a nice town, but I really wouldn’t call it upscale at all.

I don't know where you got that idea. Groton is certainly working class. Middlebury has a median HHI of $119,243 while Groton's is $62,562.

Both are fairly working class suburbs. I never said Groton was upscale, but there are some nice areas of the town.

I think you haven’t been to Middlebury in a while.

I mean, if Middlebury is “working class” then so are towns like West Hartford and Fairfield.

West Hartford and Fairfield are definitely more upscale. How can you compare Middlebury to Fairfield? Fairfield is way more expensive

I think both generalizations are off.

Middlebury is middle to upper middle class. It’s a nice average CT suburb. I would not consider it working class. It’s nothing like Fairfield.

Groton has half of Mystic and Noank, which are gorgeous. That puts Groton ahead for me, even though the rest of town is a little blah.

Groton also has way more high ticket homes:

I mean these stats are readily available lol. The income metrics are roughly the same between Middlebury and West Hartford, with Fairfield being a bit higher than both.

I think SE West Hartford bring the numbers down significantly

Fair enough but Middlebury is in the top 40 towns for per capita income. It even beats West Hartford:

Not sure I’d call that “average” for the state.

Groton is definitely more Working Class than Middlebury but remember Groton is home to the US Submarine Base. Military pay is extremely low so that brings down the median Household Income in town. On the other hand Groton is home to downtown Mystic, Noank and Groton Long Point. It’s a pretty diverse community.
