I would say it's absolutely disgusting that violence is condoned by some people. That man should be in jail. The boy posed no physical threat to him. His daughter was clearly a willing participant. He handled it wrong and should be punished for acting like that.
Bad response by Dad, he even had time to collect himself beforehand.
I'll agree that he had time to collect himself. Shouldv'e screamed through the door, WTH is going on there!. That would have ended the situation with the BF trying to make a hasty exit.

Way over the line, it's not like this kid was raping her. A 49 year old man should exhibit better judgement then a 16 year old boy(who is also an idiot for putting himself in that position in the first place).
You have to be in more control of the situation than that. I also think that he should be more upset at his step-daughter for allowing this boy to even come into his home and do what he was doing. She more than anyone knows the rules of the household and she should have enough respect for herself not to put herself in that situation. Ultimately the step father needs to hold her accountable for her actions as well.
Reading the headline alone, I thought it was going to be a case of the stepdad catching the two together and suddenly going nuts on the boyfriend. In that case, temporary insanity, slap on the wrist along with probation. HOWEVER, he went to the couch to wait for them to finish meaning he had time to collect his thoughts. "premeditated"! I would have gotten angry the instant of hearing them together and banged on the bathroom door loudly yelling at them to get out the shower cause she's now in trouble. Once they come out, get the guy's parents' number and inform his parents what was going on. For some teenagers, a great punishment is having their parents talk to the teenager about sex, mainly about the kind of sex the parents enjoy together. It should burn the mental image of her parents getting busy every time she thinks about having sex. When the boyfriend is ready to get it on, she'd hear her mom yelling, "get it on you pot bellied stallion!!!"
