It's a dollar store, around here they don't typically locate in malls or have any kind of security. Like I said, three minutes is nothing, it's very possible police had been called. If it's like our store cashiers are trained not to take on this sort of thing other than to call mgt and let them handle it. Mgt is trained to not escalate a situation, you don't get confrontational if you can avoid it. Stores don't want lawsuits, they would much rather take the loss of property, they do have insurance for this kind of thing.
Crazy, but ok. The dollar store in my town is in a little cluster of shops that might be called a mall of sorts, though not really. But it has security, because of the presence of a Trader Joe's. I'm not sure, but I think the security is paid for by T. Joe's, though they keep an eye on neighboring stores as well.
An earlier poster was right in implying that 30 or 40 years ago, store personnel or mgmt. would have yelled at the kid to stop, and that probably would have worked. Times have changed, not always for the good.
There isn't anything to evaluate. He's just being a brat who needs a belt swiped to the face. By the way, spanking is legal in Florida.
We don't need doctors labeling parasites with children with real problems.
This boy does have a real problem. His actions aren't those of a brat, they are rooted in some deep-seated anger. I still want to know how his age was established if he wasn't detained.
That's not a tantrum. That's a little brat who needs to learn some manners. Spanking isn't the answer. Acting violent toward somebody to teach him that violence is wrong doesn't work. Make the kid clean up the mess he made and pay for the damages.
