The doctors make the decision, not the politicians and media. Good people include those who are compliant with treatment, have no felony charges or violent crime charges, and will become productive members of society.

had they known in advance how their heart donation would be wasted, they probably would care, much.
There are hundreds of people who get transplants who may not appear to be "deserving." Larry Hagman, the actor, was infamous for his heavy drinking and drug use, and yet he received a controversial liver transplant. There are many, many instances of people with liver transplants who needed transplants because of their prior drug/alcohol abuse led to liver failure.
People are acting like there was a line of possible recipients lined up waiting for that heart -- but was there? The U.S. is divided into 11 organ procurement areas, mostly because time is such a critical factor in successful transplants. The donated heart may not have been a close enough match to anyone else in that procurement area, in which case they go to surrounding procurement areas, and then nationwide. His blood type may not have been common, which would have further reduced the number of recipients.
Then there's the case of non-compliance. People are refused slots for non-compliance at a rate of 1-2% -- sometimes it's because people are alone, and have no one to help them the first few months with appointments, driving, shopping, meds., etc. An evaluation is done on both the patient AND the patient's family -- if the family isn't supportive, the chances of success fall dramatically.

Recognizing that black men very often engage in behavior that is likely to get them put in jail or killed is now racist. So there is no stuff. And shame on whomever said that.
