Good point. Cops shouldn't be held liable for killing people who provoke them. They are, after all, cops.

There's no DA in Ohio, either; the correct title is County Prosecutor.

I understand what you are saying, but guys in prison don't go around killing cops, most inmates view cops as 'just doing their job' and harbor no animosity toward them, anyway jails and prisons are swarming with guards and they are seldom attacked by inmates. About 99% of violent attacks in prisons are gang related, or due to drug debts. Most killings in prison are gang hits- like this one: (Gruesome Story don't click if that kind of stuff bothers you)

The family needs to go after the university too. Get a good chunk of their endowment. That would teach them to hire cops who not only "protect and serve" while using good judgement.

Quit blaming the victim. He did NOTHING that warranted being killed
I totally blame him for escalating the situation unnecessarily. Sorry, but it's (still) a free country.

He probably didn't have a license at all. Also, why did he start the car ? The shooting was not warranted, but at the same time the officer was being provoked.

Yeah; you don't just stand there and let an unlicensed, probably drunk driver drive off in the middle of a traffic stop. Should he have shot out a tire instead? Yes, but an out-of-control situation at that point.

Common sense: it's not that common!

He won't be sent to a state prison. He'll serve state time in a Federal prison, under a fake name. He'd be killed in a state prison, if it were known what he did.

If the guy drove off in the struggle it would not have been the end. The police dash cam had the plate number anyways so they could track him. Another option would have just been to mace or pepper spray him. The shooting was just not necessary. It looks like he had a Glock 17 or 19 which is standard 9mm issue. I've owned them before, shooting that guy in the head at point blank range probably put a significant exit hole in his head. The officer probably had significant ringing ears from the gun shot. I'm surprised he didn't mention that.

It's a reliable gun, but it's not comfortable to shoot which caused me to sell mine.

That's fine if the cop is a robot but, unfortunately, the cop is a human with human fears and emotions.
