I don't see a single reference to BLM in this news story. And as I now understand it, the painting was made 3 years ago before BLM existed.
The yahoo story is seeming to want to drum up an issue.
Locally, it gets very little coverage. There are some pissed off people, mostly because their kid was suspended for drawing a picture, or wearing a shirt, etc...
Actually, it's up at the teachers discretion. The principal doesn't want to get involved. The cop just posted it on Facebook and it went a little viral locally... But wasn't even mentioned on local news for 3 days after.
The point is, either a school board should enforce its zero tolerance silliness or get rid of it. I'm in favor of getting rid of it. I'm in favor of people being a bit upset about vilifying police and creating even more division, often along political=racial lines.
I'm not for people turning this particular issue into a national debate as it is trivial... Especially if those in favor of the pic have ever defended any school board with a similar zero tolerance policy and student suspensions.

You miss the point. It's a mere reference to where a certain segment of society stands and how cheerfully it's embraced. They spew hatred and that painting is a mere example of how unbalanced these kinds of statements can be. 3 years ago and today.
Do you recall them stomping through Dartmouth disrupting the study hall where all those kids were? Not a thing was done to stop them. Between the media and the academics in society it's a miracle someone hasn't been shot.
The children in this school drew this because they understand what's going on.. It's not right to be upset at the children for drawing what they witness.
I think putting something like that on a school wall is over the top ignorant. I'd feel a whole lot better about it if they depicted the "victim" as a gang banging thug with a gun in his hand. Or how about depicting black on black murders, oh but wait, that's just swept under the rug. Right, silly me.

That is hilarious. Are you familiar with the area this occurred?
Im in Kentucky. My Wife works in that school district. There are a few different sides to it. Obviously the child whose father is the policeman is hurt and offended. She shouldn't have to feel that way in school. But, adults need to learn from this and question why this is a child's view of the world. FYI, this is one of the most affluent districts in KY, so no ghetto or anything. Thing that bothers me is, the picture is from a previous class, why not use art from students who are currently in the class?
