I know that I shouldn't let acts of terror paralyze me and prevent me from going to concerts, the movies or to any other crowd-packed venues....but, this latest incident in Las Vegas really has me wondering if I should start going out less and less to larger venues and just stick to going out to really small venues...or if I should just start staying at home, where it's SAFER.
Does this latest terrorist attack make you question going out to events where there are hundreds or thousands of people?
Or, does this not faze you in the least and you'll keep going to any large venues you want to because you're not going to let acts of terror make you afraid of going out in public?
The world is getting more wicked and scary, it's true. But I refuse to allow evil to housebound me and my fears. I'll still go out. if a madman's bullet finds me, then it finds me while I'm having fun and enjoying life.

I've always been cautious about my surroundings and tried not to congregate with large crowds outside of stadiums where you can be a target.
I've decided not to attend a outdoor concert here in the STP area that is next to several high rises after this incident in LV.
I was in Afghanistan ten years ago and these things happened weekly - terror bombs and mass killings - never thought that I'd have to worry about it here.
But stay aware of your surroundings...maybe check where exits are at big events etc.

Please get back on the horse. Go out. Have fun.
I wish I could have that positive and carefree mindset......but, I just find myself really questioning how truly safe it is for me to go out to places where I could get killed by a stray (or intended) bullet. I have a lot of life left to live, and I think it would be prudent of me to choose which venues (if any) that I go to in the near future. But...I will try to get back on the horse.

I think your decision to not attend an outdoor concert (that happens to have several high rises near it) is VERY smart and a SAFE thing to do. There's a Noah Cyrus concert coming up at the end of this month...I was really excited about going to see her (and Katy Perry too!) but, now I'm rethinking that...

I've been Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo, Albania, among others. I live in Las Vegas. I have PTSD. I avoid crowds and such due to my hyper-vigilance. This bothers me becasue it's not rational. The likelihood of these type of events occurring is so remote, it's like fearing getting struck by lightning, if not less likely. A total of 58 have died so far out of at least 22,000 people. This guy missed way more people than he hit. And way more people were saved than harmed.
So, the odds of it happening is low, then take the actual likelihood of being injured or killed being low...there is really no rational reason to fear going out to events. Unless, of course, you fear being really, really unlucky. You take bigger risk driving your car to work.

Uh? So you don't take into account the trauma that these people who didn't die experienced?
The difference between you being in Afghanistan, etc. is that people here don't usually walk around expecting to hear gunshot or get shot at. we are not used to living in a war zone.
At some point in the future, many filmmakers are going to look prophetic.
