How about the thousand or so most people spend to have a pocket phone?
No, well worth a thousand to me.
Well, I should not say that, mine was $400 a few years ago, still have it, will use it until it breaks (Samsung S5). Do not know if I would fork over a grand for a phone, I would just get the previous models at discount.
I'm in no way "addicted" to my phone, but I wouldn't give mine up for any amount of money. My phone allows me to see daily photos and videos of my new grandbaby, to stay in touch with my grown sons who all live in other states, to check in on my elderly parents (also in another state), to be able to reach anyone in an emergency, and just to stay connected with friends and family all over the country.
You can do all of that on a desktop computer, laptop, iPad, or similar non-smartphone device
I am beginning to think those without Smartphones who are responding here must not be the brightest of people. Is there some sort of correlation?
The contest clearly states one must give up their Smartphone for a period of time. To give something up, one must first have it. If one doesn't have it, they can't give it up.
To put it simply, no one can give up something they do not possess, therefore those who do not have Smartphones cannot give them up and are ineligible to enter the contest. Yet they keep posting here stating how easy it would be to give up something them up.
I wonder, though, does that mean they would be willing to go out and buy one just to enter the contest? But then they would be Smartphone owners and could no longer look down on others who own Smartphones. They would have to connect their phones otherwise that would be cheating and anyway I believe those running the contest are going to check phone usage to see just how much people were giving up.
I am finding all this pretty amusing though. Let's see how many more will post here saying they think they can win a large sum of money bragging about not having something they are willing to give up.
LOL.
there has got to be an age restriction on this contest because I and a lot of seniors I know could do this easily.
Smartwater and it's parent company Coca cola are having a contest. ditch the phone for a year and possibly win 100K
I don't have one. I don't even answer my not-so-smart phone when someone calls. I just call the number back, if they left a voicemail, when I'm good and ready. Every time I go away for 2 weeks, I never take any device that connects to the Internet with me...and you know what? I don't miss them and I was surprised. If I can do it, so can others. (Don't stop in any place to use one, either.) I take the not-so-smart phone with me if I need Triple A, only, and to use the alarm.

I think I'm saying if I can go without one, so can you. You can win the money.
