Figure skating has many different events throughout the years.
:
No it hasn't. Its always been the same 4 disciplines, ladies, men, pairs, and ice dance was added to the Olympics in 1976. The team event has only been held since 2014.
I feel so bad for that girl if they forced her to take it.
If it is her, I'm thinking possibly diuretics. I know of two rhythmic gymnasts (surprise surprise, at least one was Russian) who were stripped of several competition titles because of testing positive.

I read that it was Trimetazidine, which is a anti-angina medicine that increases coronary blood flow and could potentially help with endurance and vascular response.
Will you watch this year? As much as any other year?
Does it being held in China change anything?
Or Covid, or human rights?
I will watch little to none and can't understand why we are even participating. Just curious what everyone else is thinking.
No, I'm not watching. I am boycotting China in every way I can.
For a more positive post, I watched the men's short program last night (I DVR them and I am behind) and was absolutely charmed by the skater from Mexico, Donovan Carrillo. He is the first Mexican in the Olympics for skating in several decades. He saw the Olympics at age 10 on TV and decided he wanted to skate. So he never skated until age 10 and is now in the Olympics at age 21! His family is poor, and his coach of 11 years has never charged the family for his coaching. He has to practice at a local mall skating rink because the rink in Guadalajara closed, and he is not even allowed to play his music if other people are there (that may change now hopefully). But he made it, and landed a clean quad, too! He just looked so thrilled and delighted just to skate there and to be there, it was very nice to watch his joyous reactions especially to his very respectable score (he finished the short program in 8th place, which is pretty exceptional for a skater at his level).
If people just watched NBC prime time coverage you might not have seen him, he was in an early group. I DVR'd the entire event which aired on USA network. If you missed him I'm sure it's on YouTube.
I was also charmed by his story. He's a true underdog. The fact that his coach works with him for free is even more endearing.
China is an odd host, add Covid issues and it really isn't worth doing this year.
Curling makes me laugh (it was on TV at the pizzeria I ate lunch at). Nobody cares, how is that even a sport and why do those people fade away for 4 years into oblivion only to get revived 4 years later!
X games covers skiing/snowboarding and other events.

Curling............like a mix of ice bowling and bar room shuffleboard maybe?
Curling has really caught on in my area. Since they started airing it, this "weird" game has inspired quite a few people to try it.

I think he was referring to the number of competitions that are televised or live streamed on Youtube. Skaters get a certain number of "points" in order to qualify for entry into these competitions that are on the Olympics track.
Has anyone been following the various snowboarding events?
