The "purists" tend to have their fixies without brakes for the aesthetic. I think it is senseless to have a bike without a brake, it could put people in danger.

People with no brakes just tend to die faster, so no problem for me.
True fixies have no brakes and I was referring to those. A fixie with brakes to me is like a coaster bike.
-Cheers.
Noooo.... TRACK BIKES have no brakes or any way to mount them.Track bikes are single speed fixed gear racing bikes that normally race im velodroms. Fixies are publicly sold bikes wether converted or factory built normally come with brakes as all bikes sold are govt required to have them.
Fixed gear bikes, and all bikes sold, are required by law to have brakes on them. By removing them they've already broken a law. Doubt we need more, just need enforcement of current laws. Which seems unlikely. There aren't enough cops in the world to follow every person and their daily abuse of 'minor' laws. And honestly if there were, would anyone want to live in that society? No brakes will probably get the hipster hit by a car - one less hipster. Win-win?
