Hockaday just announced back to school plans. Many rules and regulations but they will start off with in person classes. Back to school week of August 24th and official start of classes on August 31st.

Thanks for all the great insight into Providence. I remember looking into it for kindergarten but my wife is a professor so that was probably a turn-off.

My daughter is being recruited to a couple non-PKT houses at SMU. She’d better keep her grades up because she seems doomed to have a second tier life.

Haha, the sorority system at SMU is so cut-throat that there aren’t any weak houses left on that campus. Mean girls - and mean moms - ran them all off in the 1990’s. I think 4 chapters left in 10 years. I am not a SMU alumna but my chapter there is “middle tier”. I have to laugh since they have a brand new $6 million mansion, the highest GPA on campus, multiple Student Body Presidents, Hunt Scholars, etc in the chapter. I’ve always been incredibly impressed by the women in the chapter.....so if that’s second tier, your daughter will be lucky to join any house at SMU!

Question: I'm sure this has been asked a million times. Which age/grade group has the best chance of acceptance at Greenhill and Hockaday? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Expansion years when a school grows its class are good because you know space is being created, “bad“ because there will be more applicants. A year when the class grows through attrition only will have fewer/no spaces, but fewer applicants (although with people moving to Dallas from other cities, that isn’t always true anymore).

Best bet? Apply young and give yourself more chances to apply at older grade levels if they aren’t accepted.
