If we say Detroit events are like any other city--no worse or no better--why isn't Detroit thriving like Chicago? Cleveland??
Oops, be careful about putting words in people's mouths, please. No one said that Detroit's "just fine". But if you're going to be fair about this, then please spend some time visiting the forums of every large city in the U.S. and reporting on every crime that happens in those cities as well. You do bring up a good question, though. Why whine about Detroit? Really? You have told us over and over that you left because it is such a living hell and that where you live now is infinitely better, so how about posting good things about where you live now on that city's forum and leaving Detroit behind once and for all? If it is really that bad, then why rehash over and over why it is? Why not move on already? It seems like you might feel better if you could do that.

When we had to live in Phoenix briefly last year, someone actually stole a school bus and tried to sell it, lol. There are bold but stupid crooks everywhere, unfortunately.

Remember, even Rosa Parks got mugged in Detroit. Any city as economically bummed-out as this one is gonna have crime. When we were arranging my dad's funeral 2 years ago, the salesgirl told us not to ask for a vase attached to the headstone because it would just get stolen. Sure enough, nearly every single vase had been twisted off its base when we went out to look.

We're not thriving, people, because we have a single-industry economy, and that industry is circling the drain.

The industry's been down the drain for quite some time, as I see it. I'm just glad that there's signs of progess.

Jesse Jackson's SUV was stolen and stripped this weekend too - but I find that one pretty funny actually.

The real irony is Jackson's Escalade was stripped when he was in town promoting green jobs. The hypocrisy of the greenies is laughable.
