Is there any chance someone else could buy them and reopen? My BF is so upset, he loved La shish

I think they tried to sell or something but the state wouldn't allow it cuz of their tax evasion. The owner was in jail for about 3 years now I think, someone else had been owning it but they just couldn't bring it back due to the economic climate and how people viewed the business after the starter of it went to prison.

Somewhere that isn't owned and operated by someone who financed the group responsible for the murder of a bunch of US Marines.

He never spent a day in jail. He's in Lebanon right now living the good life and making even more money while the rest of his family is in jail here. He was never charged with sending money to Hezbollah, although I'm sure the government would like to ask him some more questions on that subject. He was indicted for tax evasion, which is what his wife is in prison for now. His son is in prison for murder and Debbie Schlussel said he orchestrated the jail break of his nephew in Lebanon who he tried to blame the murder on.

LaShish food wasn't that great. Al-Amir was and is better. Chahine just brought middle eastern food to the masses. I don't think many native middle easterners preferred it for authenticity compared to other places. He's an all-around scumbag. Since Lebanon has no extradition treaty with the US, they ought to get the Mossad to kidnap him and bring him back here....or keep him in Tel Aviv for a few decades.....

He kept spending money there after the Hezbollah allegations?

Al-Ameer as in the place in Dearborn Heights, formerly known as Royal Palace? I live in this area and every day I see their moderately full to empty parking lots, I remember the two stores on this spot before Royal Palace: Bray's Burgers and the Odyssey Bar which used to both be PACKED.

Al-Ameer on Ford Road in Dbn. Hts. is their second location. Same menu. Original is on Warren Ave. (of course). Best fattoush of all the places I've tried.

I looked into this a little bit. Apparently this was a false rumor. What I was told was that the restaurant did keep two sets of books, but they were just evading taxes, not funding terrorism. The son of the owner of La Shish was accused of murder, but left the country. There was no indication that this had anything to do with terrorism either. I do not remember for sure, but I think it had to do with drugs. The false rumor of terrorism essentially shut the business down.

A new one to add. Sweetwater Tavern. Awesome chicken wings and smoked meat dishes/sandwiches.

Does anyone know where to find a good fish taco in metro Detroit? I became addicted to them while living in CA, but I haven't seen them anywhere in this area.
