Rochester - great area. Cute downtown. Easy access to central Oakland County and the Metro area.

The Shores. If I had the money, the waterfront area along Lakeshore Dr is very nice and picturesque. Plus the neighborhoods right around there are quiet and walkable.

Milford or Lake Orion

Milford. I would love to be that close to Island Lake and Kensington.

Farmington Hills or Allen Park

Actually, Utica has a small downtown area and has a couple nice parks/trails along the Clinton River. The residential neighborhoods surrounding its little business district are not cookie-cutter. Utica also has a small minor league baseball stadium

Yeah, I have to vote Utica as well, its rather small and kind of lost in the shadow of its surrounding neighbors, but its basically at the intersection of Shelby Twp, Rochester Hills, Troy, Sterling Heights.

Too bad its sense of community and downtown were destroyed when they blasted the M-59 expansion through about 25-30 years ago. Its still there, the Clinton River trail network is cool, Riverbends & Dodge Park are really nice, and close to Stony Creek. Plus they have Erma's.

Back on track...I can see pros and cons to both for my taste. Right now on a Friday sipping a beer I'll take the more blue collar feel of Allen Park.

Milan or Dundee

Utica

Towns need water. Without powered pumps, if any suburbs survive energy scarcity, they probably border or contain rivers or lakes.

Harsens Island or Grosse Ile
