Because it was a joke. I thought the 11,000 mile $3,600 plane ride would have been the give away.
It was just spin off from a previous post assuming Clinton MI was Clinton Township

Melvindale vs Roseville?
I will choose Roseville. I do not know it all that well, but I had a lot of friends from there when I was in College. They had a Fraser/Roseville carpool of over 100 people, so when I became friends with one of them, I quickly had 100 new friends. Most college parties I attended were in Fraser or Roseville so it has some nostalgic value to me. Also a few years ago we looked at cars for sale in both Melvindale and in Roseville. Melvindale won the car sale, but it was a nightmare car (1998 Dodge Caravan) and Melvindale was definitely more ick than Roseville - at least the part we went to.

OK not a lot to go on, but still. . .

Tecumseh or HIghland Twp?

Never been to either and I had to look both of them up but I'll pick Highland for sure. Tecumseh is literally the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but country farms and woods. I don't like spending any more then a few days in small towns or the country. Now Highland on the other hand is still a Detroit suburb (aka civilization).

Warrendale vs Pontiac?

Pontiac.

While neither are terribly "nice" places to live I believe that Pontiac at least has a bit of a small city or urban feel to it while Warrendale, while being in the city is much more inner-suburban feeling. Which don't get me wrong, I live in an inner-suburb, and I like that, but the differences between where I live and Warrendale are significant. If I were going to move to an area with higher-than-average crime, lower-than-average schools, it had better have an urban feel to it. Parts of Pontiac have that. Warrendale does not. Don't get me wrong, I like Warrendale. I think it one of the more stable neighborhoods in Detroit and think it has a bright future, but personally - if I'm moving somewhere a bit rougher, it needs to have that "city" feel, and I can get that in Pontiac - even if the stupid loop really cuts the "city" off from the "suburban" parts of town.

Let's go with a bit of a stark contrast to reignite this thread:

Royal Oak or Canton?

Royal Oak. More character. Canton is a bit too cookie cutter and I hear traffic is really bad. Its just generic neighborhoods and retail.I deal with RO traffic and it seems more tolerable than in neighboring communities. Royal Oak is fun and feels more like a community. Canton is pretty soulless.

Commerce Twp or Harrison Twp

Every word true slowdawg. About Canton, an apt description. I would say Chelsea over Royal Oak.

Commerce Township. I lived near an air force base once, and there are few things I hate more in life than being blasted awake by jets at 7 AM on a Saturday. I would not move to Harrison Township because of that alone. Commerce, on the other hand, seems like a nice enough, relaxing, rural-ish place that has grown a bit too much to be truly rural still, but is still sparsely populated enough to not have jumped the shark into soulless suburbia like Canton or Macomb Township.

All right, how about a proxy Ford vs. GM battle:

Dearborn vs Warren

Dearborn and it's not even close. Dearborn still has some beautiful neighborhoods on the west side, great attractions in the Henry Ford and some decent bars and restaurants downtown. Warren ranges from dumpy on the north end to hellish in the south end.

ADS, you forgot to propose another comparison.

I was going to suggest Ann Arbor vs. Marquette, but they are not Metro Detroit, so I guess that would be extra topical.
