How do you turn off your appetite when it starts getting out of control? And eating more protein doesn't help?
This is a MENTAL HEALTH issue. Seek help from a mental health provider if you have the inability to stop eating when you are full, or to stop blaming your eating issues on bad things that happened to you in your life.
Or, you can just be smart about it and educate yourself on proper nutrition/eating habits.
Of course it helps you lose weight. Losing weight is just a matter of burning more calories than you take in. Exercise helps you burn more calories, and builds muscle which is more efficient for your body.
Not everyone wants to have a diet exclusively of protein and fat.
Do you like pumpkin? Pumpkin is filling and full of fiber. One can is around 175 calories. Here is a nice recipe:
1 can of pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) in a bowl.
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbs or less vanilla sugar free instant pudding mix
As much truvia to get the sweetness you like.
Top with cool whip.
2 cans a day will keep you stuffed and not craving sweets. Lots of beta carotene. If you do this for a few weeks, you will acquire a light tan on your skin.
Looks like fat was obviously burned off and weight was lost
Cannot get rid of fat - can only shrink the fat cell, but it will always be there unless you have surgery.
I have been "hungry" - i.e. had an appetite- for most of my 50 years of life. However, wearing a bikini tastes better than any food I can think of. It's about changing the way you think of food. Ask yourself what would my liver/kidneys/skin/heart need right now? Taste buds should not be the decider of what we eat or how much.

I agree, nothing tastes better than how thin feels. And really not just thin, but being healthy. The feeling of having energy, stamina, and overall well being is incomparable.
