I have to admit I've been using my elliptical machine since November and haven't lost weight. On tuesday i wasn't feeling well and all i ate was an orange. Next morning I was down 3 lbs.

I love to eat and I dont love to workout...but clearly I need to eat less if i want to lose weight and it's hard. I also think it depends on how much exercise someone does. Clearly it makes people look more toned as well.

I am starting to think that for my body, less food is the way to go right now

Exercise has other benefits as well like helping with moods, can make your skin look better, etc.

Exercise does nothing? Might want to try to pick up a science book. Exercise sensitizes you to satiety signals and it increases fat oxidation in fat cells (aka fat metbaolism turnover) – this helps limit fat reg. Also, exercising is a common behavior among those that keep off the weight.

I think it really can just depend on the person. I dont believe that it's good advice to tell someone, exercise will not help you lose weight...but diet is very important. You cant do some exercise then go eat a pizza and expect to lose weight. I think we all know people who work out a lot and are still not particularly thin as well. I know I do. Sometimes I've wondered why the bother with working out but maybe they'd be obese if they didn't. Plus some people actually enjoy exercising.

I am one of those people that enjoy exercise. I didn't always love it, it took some dedication and I am happy I took the time. There are numerous benefits of exercise that have nothing to do with losing weight. If you are dedicated to losing weight exercise should be part of the equation. Exercise builds self esteem and that is an important part of losing weight.

People don't like exercise because it causes discomfort for most. Being lazy is easy.

I can't say I "enjoy" exercise. But I love the health benefits, it makes me feel better and more energized, and I like the toned aesthetic. It keeps my blood pressure down, makes my blood glucose numbers more stable, and prevents my RA from progressing with permanent damage. It is also crazy good for your immune systems health.

People also get discomfort if they don’t exercise- more joint and muscle pain and other issues that are caused by inactivity/reconditioning.

Again, science books say a whole bunch of things that aren't true. So some doctor actually comes along and does the actual research and finds out that ... hunters in Africa and humans in an office in NYC have about the same calories burned per day...

Well "Science" then tells us that every common belief that we have about exercise is ... open to questioning.

If it makes you feel better that is a legit reason for it.

But we do not know for sure, that it does anything for blood pressure, reduces glucose, or does anything for RA and the immune system. I would argue that given the new information that is coming out we need to start questioning if all the alleged benefits are actually benefits of exercise or perhaps are just associations which may be caused by other things.

Maybe you are reading the wrong science books.

Can you name which science books are wrong? Can you also provide the information, you know like peer reviewed studies, from your 'actual research'?

Why not just admit that you hate exercise and are willing to go to extraordinary lengths to justify that hate.
