To save money my vet once had me buy the large frontline and use a syringe and needle to extract the amount I needed for my cats. It saved me a significant amount of money.
Call your vet to get the correct dosage and a needle and syringe.
Oops, I see this has been addressed already. Well, okay add one more to the group that has used Frontline in this manner.
Thanks for your educated answer-- I'll be calling the vet tomorrow
My vet has also told me to buy the 88-100 dosage for my 80lb lab/shepherd and give him 3/4 and give my 10lb sheltie 1/4. It seems to be working fine for both of them.
Yes. If you read the packages, the only difference between the large and small is the amount applied. Just look up the amount prescribed for 30 lb dogs, I think it's actually 25-44 lbs, and then measure that amount out.
When our Big Rotty boy passed away we had extra large sizes available, since I buy it in larger quanities because it's cheaper.
Then when we adopted our last rotty she's only 75 pounds. I just used a little less on her.
didnt know what front line was until recently. my dad gave me some he uses for his dogs which are larger. when he applied it to my dog to show me what to do he just used less of the package. ive been doing this since with no problems.
I too have been using the large size and using less on the smaller dogs. There is nothing wrong with doing that especially if you are trying to save money.
I just got the larger dog Frontline to save money and it really does save money. You can get 4 months of protection with one big dog application. In essence a 3 pack of big dog Frontline gives you a whole year of protection for your little pooch. I purchased a syringe and asked my vet for a little tube to dispense the meds and I'm going to start my cost saving this month. If you don't believe me, here's their dosage for the various dogs by weight :
Frontline Plus for Dogs
5 to 22 lbs 0.67 mL (0.023 fl oz)
23 to 44 lbs 1.34 mL (0.045 fl oz)
45 to 88 lbs 2.68 mL (0.091 fl oz)
89 to 132 lbs 4.02 mL (0.136 fl oz)
Only issue is that frontline is no longer killing fleas. Not sure if they got a new formula or what is going on with it. I use to be a huge fan. Not so much these days.
I accidentally put the frontline plus for my larger dog 22-44 lb. on my smaller dog weighing 10 lbs. I realized it about 5 minutes later, and hurriedly I wiped the area off to removed as much of the product as possible. Do you think my small dog could be poisoned even though I did wipe the area off good. This just happened. QUICKLY, please let me know ...QUICKLY PLEASE.

Unlikely to cause any problems - you are probably ok. Watch for nausea, vomiting, seizures, or skin irritation for a few days. The active ingredients are fipronil and methoprene. You can look them up online.
