Pumpkin does NOT stop or help diarrhea. A dog needs an antibiotic usually Flagyl once they have more than one random day of an episode. As a dog walker I can effectively use Imodium gel caps at the clients' and vet's direction for an ACUTE episode.

Diarrhea can be deadly and should not be played around with using home remedies. Once diarrhea goes watery you have a very LIMITED TIME to get to the VET or the ER for FLUIDS and treatment. Or your dog will end up in ICU or worse.

Pumpkin is a fiber that helps SUPPORT the gi system but will not make any difference at all once there's a "problem".

Same with Oat Bran. It's a regulator for soft OR hard stool for humans or animals but should only be used if there's a specific reason.

You should take your dog to the vet.

Next time it happens, cook some white rice, and add a half cup to the food.
It stops loose stools.

Bob.

Please do not give your dog fruit in the future (a bite of an apple etc may be OK but citrus usually isn't good for them at all).

If he's vomiting, has no energy, is not eating or drinking or the diarrhea won't stop he needs to go to the vet ASAP.

White rice or pumpkin may or may not help with diarrhea depending on the cause. It's usually best to take the dog to the vet before trying a home remedy.
