My 6 y/o Cocker Spainel is panting, drooling, and shaking like crazy. It's most common at night also. So we've taken her to the Vet. They cleaned her Anal Glands and she was fine for a good 10 hrs and now it's 3:05 a.m. and she's starting again. I had to lock her downstairs with her bed and a toy. I don't know what could possibly be wrong. She's trying to tell me something but I don't know exactly what. She always wants to go somewhere yet no where specific.
Have had a Lhasa since he was 6wks old. Now he's 8. Always been very close to him. Treat him like a child. Spoiled. My ex and I split up live in separate houses. Took the Lhasa with me but after 1yr he is very hard to take care of by myself cuz I have health issues. My ex and I trade off with him so he can see both of us. He now acts like he doesn't want to be with me. I treat him the same as always. I love the little guy to death. Puzzled why ???
Can you take him places, take him for walks, to PetCo or PetsMart, give him a fun change of scenery. C/b the moves are a bit disruptive and confusing for him. How does he act like he doesnt want to be w/ you, does he run and hide, is he not eating well etc - ? Need more info. A vet visit may be in order if it continues
My attic smoke alarm battery was dying and the alarm was "chirping", but only in the middle of the night when the colder battery didn't have enough "juice" in it to operate the smoke alarm. The chirping was causing both my Labrador and my German Shepard to panic, rapid heartbeat, trembling, climbing on and off the bed, panting, clinging to me. Soon as I found the problem they were cured. The high-pitched noise made them nuts I guess. If you live in apartments, condos etc, it may be the neighbors' alarms making the noise, buy them some batteries, it is cheaper than vet.
This information regarding "chirping" smoke alarms proved to be the cause of our dog's shivering and panting. This was the only post I read on alarms chirping when the batteries get cold and recalled hearing the "chirp" but didn't move to change the batteries until I read about eidobcire's experience. Without
the chirp, our dog slept soundly through the night without incident. When I changed the batteries, the
alarm sounds to indicate it's working and when our dog heard it; he went CRAZY. Problem solved.
Can't tell you how thankful I am I came across the post from eidobcire. The eye opening part about alarms which I didn't know is how they react when they get cold. Ours sounded off at 2 a.m. when our
room is pretty cool and we never heard it but our dog did.
I think she is in pain. Has the vet taken xrays to see if there is a back problem that hurts? Maybe you should try another opinion at a different vet? Sounds like your dog is desperately trying to tell you something.
Hi all. If anyone is still reading this thread, my dog has been doing the exact same thing: jumping into bed, panting, and shaking from time to time in the evening. The culprit-a smoke detector that we didn't know was periodically beeping from the basement. We didn't notice it but she did and it scared her. So one thing to do is check for any noises that may be freaking them out. Good luck.
I think mine sees things we can't see. She stares at something. ..follows it with her eyes. . then cows down, starts shaking and drooling then heads to the bathtub where she sleeps all night. She has been doing this for months. She is 6 yrs old. A basset hound.
My 3 year old chihuahua is acting up it started about 4 days ago. He usually sleeps in bed with me and my bf but one night she started walking all over my face while I was sleeping panting very heavily and shaking. I didn't know what to do so I got up with him and he wouldn't get off my lap and the shaking and panting got even worse. We have a 2 1/2 year old boy and a 1 1/2 year old girl and I think they stress him out because before he used to hide in our room all day and only come out when they are ready to take a nap or going to bed at night. But he never was panting or shaking. I took him to the vet and she said that he had a generated disc in his neck because she said when she attempted to move his neck he yellped really loud. But we took a trip to my bf moms house in Oklahoma and she had a dog and it was a female and they got a long very well and she also had a bigger home with a big back yard that's fenced in anyways we were there for two weeks and I think he loved it. Maybe he is acting like this because he is stressed out and wanted to stay over there because I have a two bedroom apartment on the upper floor so he doesn't get to go out enough because I have two kids to take care of but I take him out to do his business but I think he has gotten depressed. He needs to run around also he is 5 pounds overweight because like I said I walk him 3 times a day to do his business outside and then he eats and hides in his room. But now he is acting out panting and shaking acting like he is very sick hiding in the closet won't eat a thing. I took him to the vet they gave him muscle relaxers pain mess and a bone and joint inflammation medication. He is taking it but he is not getting any better I don't know what to do and I already spent 400 dollars at the vet now I'm gonna have to spend more because he is not better and I guess they are gonna have to do blood work to find out more. Personally I don't think they will find anything I think the kids stress him out and he is finally had it with the kids. Idk im so scared and confused
